Elena's POV:

Food, fight and finally relax.

After the little incident that took place between Maria and that kid, whatever his name is, we decided it would be decent for us to leave before the planned time.

I dodge the broccoli thrown at me with my arms crossed. I turn towards the source who keeps throwing broccoli at everyone.

Mike.

After we left the park, we decided to grab some dinner. The two kids were sitting on high chair whining about vegetables. Well, one was whining while the other was assaulting anyone around two meter radius with broccoli.

This day can't get any better.

After the dinner, we decided to retire home with the same hostages in each car. Unlike the last time, Mila decided to stay awake to torment us. By us, I mean me. Alex was driving as I stayed in the backseat with the kid.

She keeps smiling at me, pulling her hand front before wriggling her fingers as she attempts to get my attention. First, she cried when I held her and now she wants my attention.

Reluctantly I turn my eyes towards her to see her smile at me.

Well, now she wants to smile.

"What's up?" I start the conversation with her. She giggles in return. I give her a look. Why did she giggle by the way? Is that how I have to communicate?

"What's funny?" I ask as I fix her blanket. She grabs hold of my index finger. I look at the way her tiny fingers with ultra tiny nails are wrapped around my finger.

My goodness, she is so small and, hate to admit, precious. She coos at me as she held my finger tight. I smile.

"Looks like you both are warming up to each other," I hear Alex say. I look up see Alex's eyes trained on me through rear-view mirror.

"Look closely, I am trying to break my finger out of her hold."

"It doesn't seem so."

I glare at the back of his head. Noticing our little bickering, the kid decided to tug my finger to gain the attention back.

"Yeah, what do you want?"

The only answer was her smiling at me.

Okay, but this is kind of getting creepy now.

"Alex, how do I operate this thing?" I ask, pointing to the child.

"Talk to her."

"I just did. She said nothing in return. What am I supposed to do now?"

"The infant won't talk back Elena. You just have to keep making conversation."

"Even when you know they won't understand or reply?"

"Uh...yes."

I look back at the kid to see her look at me with big eyes. A conversation with her. Sounds scary but when it's me who's gonna speak and she has to listen quietly, then what do I have to lose? I sigh and start speaking.

"You and your siblings are by far the most maddening creatures I have ever met," I say with a sweet smile. The kid looks at me attentively like I was telling her the most interesting story.

Girl, I am not taking science classes, I am roasting you.

"Try nice words this time," I hear Alex say as he takes a turn to the other lane.

Nice words? Does he not know Eighteen and nice words don't go in the same line?

"Though I am not a big fan of you all, your sibling does have some adequate fighting skills. Her punch is highly commendable though."
