Chapter 63
Daniel
"I'm full." Grace announced dropping ber fork.
"Finish your eggs at least." Amber sighed, but the stubborn girl just shook her head.
"I can't, mummy." She whined making Amber roll her eyes.
"Okay, leave them." I nodded at her making her smile.
"Go get dressed." Amber sighed.
"Okay, but I may need help." Grace shrugged walking out.
"Grace you don't need help. You're old enough." Amber yelled so that the girl would be able to hear.
"She's still too young." I protested.
"Let her learn to be independent." She shrugged carrying the plates to the sink.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes as I helped her with cleaning the dishes.
"Will you take her to school today?" Amber asked.
"Alright. Uh- by the way, Delilah called and she invited us over tonight."
"Okay." She nodded.
"Something's wrong?" I frowned pulling her to me.
"I'm okay." She smiled.
"I'm not stupid, Amber. What is it about?" I raised a brow.
"I'm worried about you. You've been getting tired a lot." She pointed out.
"That's because I am doing too much effort lately!"
"Still, it's worrying me. Go make your anniversary check up."
"Why do you keep thinking that way? I'm good! Stop thinking negatively! Maybe I'm getting tired, but that doesn't mean that I'll die!" I yelled.
"I didn't say that!" She denied taking a step back.
"You don't have to say the same exact words!" I rolled my eyes.
"I will be the one to die from your carelessness! What's wrong with you?!"
"Okay Amber, I'll go. Happy now?" I faked a smile.
"You're frustrating!"
"You're frustrating!" I replied.
"Daniel, you should've done a check up eight months ago! Till when are you going to postpone it? You already make it every year instead of every six months!" She raised her voice.
We're back to fighting over that.
What she doesn't know is that I didn't even make one for three years.
I honestly don't get what is the importance of that check up shit! Yeah, my heart is weak, but I am not drinking anymore, so there's no problem! Plus, I'm not feeling sick or anything. Yeah, sometimes I feel dizzy, but it's normal. I'm not young anymore.
"Daddy, let's go!" Grace jumped up snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I'll see what I can do." I sighed pecking Amber's cheek. I hate to make her mad, but she really makes me angry.
"Stop being stubborn. You won't lose anything if you just made a few blood analysis. It won't take two hours, Daniel." She said softly cupping ny face in her hands.
"Okay." I nodded kissing the frown off her face before pulling away.
"I'm going to the journal for a few hours to finish a few things. After that, I'll meet you at the dancing school, alright?" She questioned.
"Okay." I nodded.
"Did you take your sandwich?" She tuned to Grace, who nodded her head impatiently.
"We're leaving." I announced walking to the door with Amber following. "Take the car. We'll walk." I handed her my car keys.
"I'll drive you on my way at least."
"No, we have fun more that way. Isn't that true, Gracie?" I turned to my 4- years old daughter.
"It is, daddy." She nodded with a grin.
"Bye." I waved at Amber as I walked out of the driveway and towards the her school.
"Daddy, I want to go with you to the dancing school." She spoke up cutting the silence.
"You can start training from next year. Until then, you'll still be underage."
"I am a big girl!" She protested making me chuckle.
"These are the rules at school. You have to be five to start training, but till then you'll dance with daddy, okay?" I smiled picking her up.
"Okay!" She cheered pecking my cheek.
"We may go to your aunt tonight." I announced as I stopped in front of the school gate.
"Okay." She smiled as I set her back to her feet.
"Good morning, Grace." Her teacher smiled.
"Good morning." She answered shyly.
"Sorry, we're a bit late." I apologized.
"You're not, sir. Just on time." She smiled.
"Okay, Grace. Here's your bag. Be good. I love you." I whispered pecking her nose.
"I love you more." She giggled wrapping her ting arms around my neck for a second before letting go.
"I'll pick you up later." I whispered kissing the top of her head and standing up.
"Thank you." I smiled at the lady who just nodded with a smile before I stepped away.
------
"Hey, man!" I high fived William.
"Hey!" smiled before walking away.
I dropped my bag beside the treadmill to start running.
"Someone is not wasting anytime." Darren chuckled.
"I don't have much time. Work is waiting for me." I mumbled already out of breath.
"You look tired though."
"Nah." I shook my head making it quicker.
About an hour later, I turned to the weights.
The gym here is not as good as Paul's, but I have no choice. I don't want anyone to know. Not Amber not Paul. They're already freaking out without knowing that I come here.
Her work at the journal gives me this opportunity.. I don't know what would she do if she know that I've been working out here for more than two years.
I know that I pressure myself a bit with all the training and dancing, but I must show everyone that I can do it. I can train for 3 hours here then dance for 5 hours without taking a rest. I am strong enough to do that.
It's a challenge...
-----------------
"Daniel, do you have the list of names of the juniors?"
"Yes, I got them." I nodded picking out a file and handing it to him.
"Good. Where's Amber?" He furrowed his brows.
"She went to the journal for a few hours, and then she'll come."
"Okay!" He nodded before walking back to his office.
"Good morning." Harry smiled at me once he stepped in.
"Sophie is waiting for you and she's already fuming."
"Shit! Why?"
"You didn't answer your phone yesterday while she was waiting for you." I smiled at his horrified face.
"I forgot it at home."
"Where have you been?"
"I was out with some friends. I swear nothing more!" He swore.
"Try to make her believe you, then." I shrugged with a sigh.
"Daniel, what do you do when Amber is mad at you?"
"Get her flowers, sing for her.. I don't know, it depends on why is she mad." I shrugged.
"These women! They're too hard! I bet that she'll start saying that I was too busy cheating on her." He rolled his eyes.
"Daniel, when should we start training?" Sophie stepped out walking straight to me not even bothering to look at the poor boy.
"Um- in half an hour maybe.." I answered quietly.
"Baby, I was just coming to you." Harry smiled acting dumb.
"Oh really, now?!" She yelled glaring at him.
He looked at me, and I just shrugged stifling my laugh.
"Oh, why are you mad?" He frowned following her to the other room.
"What's wrong?" Amber furrowed her brows looking in their direction before turning to me.
"A normal couple fighting. It's normal." I shrugged.
"Those kids.." She laughed lightly shaking her head.
"Did I tell you that you look beautiful today?" I leaned in with a smile.
"No, you didn't." She shook her head.
"Well, you do." I grinned.
"C'mon, guys. We can't wait any longer." Sir Brown yelled cutting us off.
"Let's go." I said quietly to Amber.
"The rest are not here, yet." I told Sir Brown.
"I don't care. We need to start." He shrugged turning on the music.
"He's not in the mood." I whispered to Amber.
"They're late." She whispered back placing her bag on one of the shelves.
"Start!" He yelled, and I started dancing with Sophie while Amber danced with Harry.
"Stop!" He yelled. "Start again."
"Switch!" With that, I let go of Sophie, and continued to dance with Amber.
"Again." He repeated making us groan.
"We won't stop till you make it perfectly! I don't care if you're not training enough!" He admonished taking a seat on a high chair.
--------
"I'll get her." Amber smiled hopping out of the car.
My head is spinning, but I don't want to tell her that. We trained for 5 hours in a row without resting for a minute.
As much as I enjoy our trainings, it sometimes get annoying when others are not in the mood.
"Good afternoon, Daddy." Grace smiled as Amber buckled her belt.
"Good afternoon, baby." I smiled cupping her cheek as Amber got back in the driver's seat. "How was your day?" I asked.
"Good. I got big sticker." She smiled showing me her copybook.
"Good job! Keep it up, amd make daddy proud, okay?" I smiled as she nodded.
"Did you eat your sandwich?" Amber asked.
"Yeah!"
"You didn't tell me what did you do today?" Amber turned her head to the side to look at me.
I frowned for a second not getting what she meant.
"You went to the hospital, didn't you?" She looked at me vigilently.
"Uh- yes." I lied.
"When are you going to get the results?"
"They said that they'd call me, but I'm good." I shrugged looking out of the window.
"How do you know that if you didn't get the results?" She sighed turning to me as she stopped the car.
"I can feel it. I know that I'm good, Amber. I don't need someone to tell me that!" I rolled my eyes.
"Grace, go to your aunt, please." She turned to grace openning the child's lock from her side.
"Okay." Grace nodded quietly hopping out of the car and towards the front door of Delilah's house.
"Why did you send her away?" I asked quietly.
"We're going to the hospital." She sighed turning the key in the ignition once again before driving back to the main road.
"What the hell, Amber? They are waiting for us!" I argued.
"Call Delilah, and tell her that we have something to do. She'll understand."
"I'm not Grace. You don't have to go to my doctor as if you're my mother. I can handle my shit by myself!"
"You're a liar!" She screamed hitting the brakes.
"I'm not!"
"Yes, you are! Why did you become so nervous if everything is fine?!" She yelled.
"I'm not nervous!" I rolled my eyes.
"Then, call Delilah." She replied sternly before turning to the road again.
Fuck that!
