After about two minutes of screaming in pain, I stood up and walked quietly to the bathroom. As I was washing my hands, I noticed someone come in. I was in this place for a long time, so I was familiar with everyone there. This chick was new. She went in the sink next to me and began applying makeup."Who are you?" I demanded. Instead of her feeling slightly offended, she smiled sweetly.
"Well for starters, I'm a female."
"Listen Barbie. I don't know who or what you are but up in here, we don't come in looking like some hood rat Beyoncé type looking Thot."
"Ok," she said flatly. She put down her eyeliner and stared me straight in the eye. It was obvious that she was pissed. Only thing was, I didn't give a shit.
"My name is Ariane. Yes I'm black, get used to it. I'm not fat, I'm thick. Is that a clear description princess?" she said. I rolled my eyes and continued to wash my hands. Afterwards I went over to dry them off while this bitch kept staring at me. She walked over towards me. "And who are you?"
"I'm the girl you don't want to fuck with. So I recommend you stay away from me. You wouldn't want me to mess up you're precious makeup, would you now?" I asked nicely, making a puppy face. She looked at me bewildered for a few seconds. I got tired of this dumb bitch, so I did what any emotionally disturbed person would do.
I spat in her face.
"To be honest, you looked quite thirsty anyway," I said, walking calmly out of the bathroom. I smiled on my way to my room. When I got there, I realized that I couldn't stay in my room. The blood was still painted on the wall along with open cracks. I couldn't go to Adam's room, it wouldn't feel right. So, I was going to Fred's room. He always knew how to make someone laugh.
I put on a large hoodie I found in one of my drawers and left. It took a long five minutes, but I got there just in time. The nurse was coming around with evening pills. I jumped on Fred's bed, my mouth open and ready for my pills.
"Yum yum" Fred gurgled while drinking his water. I looked at the nurse up and down, waiting for her to leave. The second she stood out the door, I ran over and slammed it shut. Confession time.
"So, I came to talk to you, Fred" I said, sitting next to him on the bed.
"Talk"
"Ok well you know how I'm like...different?"
"Look Tori, I know my IQ is as low as fuck, but anybody would know that we are all different. Look at me Tori, I don't look exactly normal." We both laughed. He had little adorable ears and slanted eyes that made him look so freaking cute. I reached for his hand and stroked his palmer crease, signaling for him to shut up and listen. This was business.
"Well a few minutes ago, I met someone who was different also.."
"Oh really," he said happily.
"Don't flatter yourself, she seems like a hoe anyway."
"Ok, well what's it about her that's annoying you so much?" He asked sincerely.
"I'm just telling you to watch out for the walking watermelon."
"Hey, I like watermelons. They're juicy" he said with a huge grin plastered on his face.
I nudged him playfully. Even though Fred was gay, he was funnier than any other boy I've met in my whole life.
"You're the reason why I like gay people. They are way better than straight boys."
"Aww thank you, but for real, what's up? Does it have to do with Adam?"
"Yeah," I sighed. "He's gone again."
Adam was used to leaving and staying low for a while. The nurses and doctors weren't really bothered by it, they saw it as a chance for him to realize how unsuitable he was for the real world and come to his senses. That way, he'd come back to the hospital.
"Give me a laptop and five minutes. I'll catch the bitch."
"That's the thing, I don't know if I want him back. He's been gone for a while and hasn't said anything to anyone."
"Well I think that's what anti social means. Right?" I sighed.
Although he was trying to make me smile, I was really concerned about Adam. Was it just one of his normal hobbies, or was he in danger? There wasn't anything else to do but wait. Wait for him to return. Would he return? Fred could see the concern in my eyes, so he changed the topic.
"Well I'm going to get a glimpse of the walking watermelon just to see if she needs my kool aid," he said while getting up. I nearly chocked on the air as I began laughing. Fred sternly looked at me in confusion before adding "stop Tori, you look like a retarted seal on crack. May I also add that you sound like a dying seahorse."
"Go prepare you're kool aid," I choked out.
He pay his little man gently and winked at me before heading out the door. "Don't choke on it too hard," he said right before closing the door.
Forget about Adam. Check.
I smiled as I realized that I had time to myself. But as happy as I was, Dora just had to do a little more exploring. So, I was on my way to my room, when I saw Adam's room wide open. My eyes darted directly into his room. Before I knew it, my legs were moving in that direction.
His room was filled with nothing. When we were together, he had all of those boyish type posters on his wall. But as I stared at the walls of his room, I was only able to make out a light blue paint. I sat down on his bed, looking at the things in his drawer.
He still had shirts and cute gifts that I got for him from back then. He still cared, I thought. A warm, glowing smile slowly spread across my face. He had a bunch of old love letters and ridiculous t shirts that would say 'he's mine'. I smiled even wider just thinking about all of the good times we had.
What caught my attention was the little note on top of his drawer. It was an address on a small slip of paper next to a pen. I read it and clenched my fists.
360 Danley rd.
My address.
