Not all men are born equal. When I was a kid I learnt that the hard way. My whole life I was bullied for not having a quirk and questioned why I was even here, in this seemingly meaningless existence.

But after many years I found a purpose, to carry on All Might's mantle. I had admired him for so long, dreaming about being like him. A  symbol of peace, someone who made others feel safe when I arrived with a smile on my face. Once I gained this power my path seemed so clear, yet it deviated so many times. Some good, some bad. But overall if it led me to where I am right now then it was all worth it.

This is the story of how I got to this point and how I found the one who saved me from myself when my path deviated. She saved me more times than I can count. We started as friends and then become more.

My name is Izuku Midoriya... The symbol of peace and the number one hero.

Midoriya's POV
It was another boring day, but not uneventful. Went to school, got bullied by Kaachan in the usual way, name calling, punching, even with explosions, and then my teacher caused me the most pain indirectly.

"Your'e all about to be third years now so it's time to start thinking seriously about your future and what you want to do with your lives. I could pass out some career aptitude tests but why bother... I know you all want to be heroes!"

Everyone started showcasing their quirks, ranging from someone turning their body to stone to a girl who could produce fire as their hands. I nervously raised my hand as to not draw to much attention my way. As I did Kaachan started his usual 'HAHAHA I'M BETTER THAN ALL OF YOU EXTRAS'. As he bragged about applying to UA my teacher did something which made this bad day into a horrible one.

"Oh yeah Midoriya, didn't you want to go to UA too"

After a brief moment of silent stares in my direction laughter erupted from my classmates. They all started saying that I could never be a hero without a quirk, something I have heard all my life.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHH". An explosion blew my desk in half as Kaachan stood over me with a look that many would mistake for a villains face. "YOU SERIOUSLY THINK UA WOULD LET A QUIRKLESS LOSER LIKE YOU ENTER, HA IN YOUR DREAMS". I was going to try to say something back but I knew that Kaachan would only bully me more so I kept my mouth shut and endured the rest of his abuse for the rest of the day.

After what felt like forever the final bell rung and we were all let out to go home. I was the last person in the classroom just packing away my Hero Analysis Book when he showed up.

"What'cha think your doing Deku were not done"
"What's that, a diary... Hero Analysis For The Future... don't tell me you actually think you can be a hero"
"He's so pathetic"

Kaachan the proceeded to blow up my notebook and throw it out of the window. I tried to grab it before it fell but it was hopeless. I thought Kaachan was done bullying me for the day but then...

"You know, if you want to be a hero that badly there might actually be a way", I looked at him with confusion. "Take a swan dive off the roof of the building and pray to be born with a quirk in your next life". I stared at him with pure anger only to recoil in fear as explosions appeared in his hand and said "Something wrong". Kaachan and his friends then left the classroom leaving me there crying as I actually contemplated doing what Kaachan just said.

Luckily I decided against doing what Kaachan said and picked up my now destroyed notebook out of the fish pond and started heading home. I went towards a tunnel to get home only for my life to change forever...

???'s POV

Ughhh, what am I gonna do. I looked at my phone to try and find something to distract me from the train wreck others call a school day. Dammit why don't I just try to talk to one of them, if I make one friend then the rest will be easy right, right?...Nope not gonna happen.

I just moved schools two weeks ago and still haven't made one friend. Not that I had loads in my previous school, just 3 or 4 people I would hang out with because they also had nobody to hang out with. I have no idea what I'm doing, how to make friends or even how to have a conversation with someone other than my parents. I need to learn how to do this. Ok, ok. I'll talk to the next person I see. I won't be that bad right?

I was walking for about 5 minutes when I saw someone up ahead. A green haired boy who looked like he was about my age. He also seemed like he was having a bad day. Maybe I could ask him what's up, that is a good way to start a conversation, right? I hope I don't sound weird when I say it.

I stopped for a second to mentally prepare myself, it only felt like a second but when I looked up to talk to the boy he was gone. I was confused and looked all around me only to realise he was already walking underneath a tunnel about 40 meters behind me. He didn't even notice me. Should I walk over there to talk to him or should I just give up. Ughhh, maybe this is the universe saying I shouldn't have any friends, oh well.

I started to walk away when I heard a noise behind me. WHAT IS THAT. A giant green sludge just emerged from the sewers and engulfed that green haired boy. OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD WHAT SHOULD I DO. SHOULD I HELP? WAIT NO I'LL GET KILLED. THINK, THINK, THINK. I SHOULD...

Before I could fully comprehend the situation something else emerged from the sewers, someone else. I watched in awe as All Might, the number one hero jumped out of the sewers and blew away that sludge monster with one punch. I stood still watching the number one hero before my eyes. I had never been overly obsessed with heroes or anything but it's All Might!

After a few seconds I snapped out of my little trance and realised that All Might and the boy were gone. I ran over to the tunnel only to witness All Might jump away as I arrived. Oh well I guess I won't meet the number one hero, or talk to that boy, does the universe really hate me that much...

About 30 minutes later I was walking down a busy street when I suddenly realised that this usually busy street was almost empty, then I saw it. A massive group of people was gathered around an alley way. I walked over to see what was happening only to see the same green sludge that engulfed that boy, the same one All Might had taken down, or so I thought. Wait did All Might actually fail, no that's impossible I saw him take that thing down. So what happened, did...

Before I could finish my thoughts someone flew past me. Wait was that. It was. The boy I saw earlier, the one I was going to talk to, the one who was attacked by this very villain was rushing towards it. I was in shock what was he doing was all that came through my mind.

After a minute the whole situation was over with. All Might saved the the two boys caught in this. The one who was captured was praised for his bravery. But all I could focus on was that green haired boy, he was getting chewed up by the heroes. Why is he getting yelled at, he was brave enough to rush in to help someone when all the other heroes hesitated. In my eyes he was more of a hero than the supposed pro heroes.

I wanted to get a chance to talk to him but he left incredibly quickly, one second he was here the next he was gone. Oh well I guess I won't actually get to talk to him. Wait what am I thinking, I never want to talk to people, what made him so different, why did he affect me so much.

Time skip - 1 day
What happened yesterday has been on my mind ever since I saw that boy. But also the fact that I didn't do anything to help that boy when the sludge villain attacked him. Am I that weak, am I that much of a coward. That boy was attacked by that monster yet didn't hesitate to charge towards it to save someone. At that moment I decided I will overcome my fear, I won't hesitate again. I'll be... a hero.

I then spent the next 10 months training myself, pushing myself to the limit. However that wasn't the hardest part, that role was left for telling my parents I wanted to become a hero. I was dreading it but then when I told them they supported me unconditionally and even suggested that I should apply for UA, which I eventually caved in and said yes. And those words my father said to me will stick with me forever "Kyoka, you can do whatever you want"...

This is also the story of how I became a great hero. As well as meeting the love of my life.

My name is Kyoka Jiro... a pro hero who was inspired by the new symbol of peace, Deku.
