I open the box and take out a syringe. It feels cold in my hand, it feels deadly. I run it over to Derek, not paying attention to the sound of my feet, and strike it to his neck. Before the needle touches his flesh, Derek's hand flies back and hits me in the eye, the syringe falls from my hand and onto the floor. Dove turns around in her seat and looks at me.
"James!" She screams.
Derek leans over to Dove. "Say goodbye to your little Amity crush."
He reaches for the gun in his belt and Dove kicks him hard in the ankle. He falls hard to the floor, with a loud shudder that I surprisingly can hear over the fire alarm. Before he has time to get back up, I jump down next to him and grab the needle, and inject the death serum into his neck.

I get up and run to the back of the room and grab Lucas' bag, swinging it over my shoulder. I run over to Dove and unexpectedly, she grabs hold of my shirt and hugs me - tight.
"James, thank you." she cries.
"You're welcome." I smile, then straighten out my lips."Lets go; We need to leave."
We head for the window in the back of the room and smash it open with Lucas' bag. Lucas runs to the window below us and waves at us signaling that its safe to jump down. We open the window and I help Dove up on the windowsill first, and follow beside her. Just as we begin to leap, the doorway behind us fills up with Erudite guards who carry guns that aim at Dove and I. They begin to fire at us.
I grab Dove and kiss her on the lips, hard. A bullet pierces its way into my neck and several other bullets plow into Doves stomach. We fall through the window and land hard on the concrete and broken glass below us, which causes a light sigh to escape from Dove's lips. I turn my head and look into her eyes as she looks into mine. I focus on nothing else. Both of our eyes are red and wet, but she is so beautiful.

She is so beautiful.

Brightness clouds my vision from the corners and soon consumes my entire sight. The last thing I see are Dove's lips until Kay welcomes me through the light, with an Amity smile.
