"Black pillers" the ground started to shake and multiple black flames emerged from the ground separating the group into two. Gildarts, Lucy and Wendy in one and Laxus, Erza, Gray, and Juvia in the other. The flames spread out like a barrier across the whole of the cathedral trapping Gildarts's group inside
"I guess I didn't get all of you but that's okay, I'll deal with the rest of you later" Natsu said as he was getting the rubble off of him. He had black blood rolling down his face, had cuts on his body and scales were missing from his tail, his clawed hands and feet were also missing scales "You know that quite hurt you know, you should warn people when you decide your gonna throw them into a piller" he said
"I'll be sure to remember that for next time" Gildarts replied and looked back at the others "Well this kinda changes the plan a bit but no need to worry" He straitened his posture and crossed his arms "I'll still defeat you, no matter the circumstances" he grinned
"Gildarts-san I-I'll be here if you need support, I can use my magic to give you a boost if you want" Wendy said
"Thanks kid but I got this one, don't want you getting hurt now do we" he replied patting her head earning a low grunt from her "besides I have a personal score to settle with him" he said cracking his knuckles
"A personal score? What would that be" Lucy asked not really but really wanted to know the answer
"Cana's favourite booze shop was destroyed, I must get revenge" he said with fire in his eyes making everyone give him the "seriously" face
"Are you talking about alcohol?" Natsu asked scratching the back of his head 'are you kidding me' he thought now clawing at the back of his head making him bleed in the process 'now that I think about it when was the last time that I had alcohol' his tail was thrashing side to side in anger that he couldn't quite remember
"Alcohol? You saying you drink alcohol that's quite unusual and under normal circumstances I'd have a drink with you but since we're in the middle of a war and your the enemy I will have to take a rain check on that" Gildarts ended with a laugh once again giving everyone sweat drops
"Gildarts I don't think that it's the time for that" Lucy said grabbing her whip
"Yeah Yeah I know" he sighed "Sorry kid but I'm gonna have to put ya down but don't take it personally though I will" he said before he held out his hand and said "crush" causing a large amount of magic power to shoot out of his palm and obliterating everything in its path, heading towards the demon. Natsu on the other hand was watching in ewe as the scene before him was unfolding. He was impressed by Gildarts's magic power level not that it compared to the spirrigan or anything he just thought that it might be in the same level as God Serena nothing more nothing less.
Meanwhile in the opposite side of the so called "Black pillers" Laxus's group was watching the scene unfold before them, try as they might but they weren't able to get pass the impenetrable pillers of flames. They kept watching as Gildarts kept throwing out his "crush" magic at the demon who was dodging them like it was nothing, that was until Laxus started to walk away and out of the cathedral
"Where are you going? Shouldn't we at least try to help them, that demon is dangerous and they might need more support" Gray said catching up with Laxus
"And how do you suppose that we help them?" He replied as he stopped walking and glanced over at the ice mage "how do you suppose we get past those black pillers of fire huh?" There was silence "that's what I thought, besides I'm sure that Gildarts can handle himself so in the meantime we'll go after Zeref" Laxus explained getting dumbfounded looks from the little group
