Chapter 46 Is it the end or just the beginning

"Yeah I'm fine" Natsu replies, tossing his key into a portal that went into his book.
"Buy you know gramps I don't exactly feel like going anywhere anytime soon. So I guess I'll hang around until I get sick of you guys" he added feeling stupid saying it, but it sleep felt somewhat good. Makarov and the rest of Fairy Tail looked quite surprised about his little statement. Makarov was beyond thrilled but he kept his excitement to himself, or so he thought so. It turns out he was making a really big smile.
"So you don't mind that I hang around right?" Natsu added with a somewhat flushed face. If he didn't feel stupid before he most certainly does now.

"My boy" Makarov places a hand on Natsu's shoulder
"You are always welcome to be here. This is your home too after all" Natsu flinched when Makarov said home. He didn't understand what he meant by that. Natsu wasn't apart o Fairy Tail nor is he a relative of anyone who is apart of the guild. So why did he say that? His home? He doesn't have home. Natsu was too caught up thinking on what Makarov had meant to even noticed Erza walking up to him.

"You may not be apart of the guild, but that doesn't change anything. Your a very important person... and demon in our lives and if I'm going to be honest with you Natsu. I can't imagine you not here with us anymore" she said Natsu was surprisingly excited for what the future had in store but he hadn't actually decided how long he was going to stay for. The rest of team Erza also came closer towards them practically circling them.

"I'm happy that you'll be staying with us is a little longer Natsu-san, we can do so much together. You can even come on requests with us" Wendy was thrilled that Natsu decided to stay with them longer. She loved him as much as a real brother and she couldn't even think about being in Fairy Tail without him. Gray only laughed at the poor (and possibly flushed demon) saying how stupid he looks about being so red, and like all arguments this one turned out the same. With both parties getting into trouble by everyone's favourite red head.

"I'm sure the gold would become boring without you, so I'm glad you decided to hang around a little longer" Lucy said with a big smile. Natsu didn't realise people could smile so much. Or even become so happy about him saying that he'll stay. Fairy Tail was a mystery to him. Not too long ago he was trying to kill them and now here he was trying to become closer to them. It's been a long time that so many people treated him like a normal person, and he wasn't going to admit it but he likes it. He likes the fact that there not treating him like the demon that he is. He now thinks he knows why Zeref had told him not to harm them.

Flashback
Just before the war

"Hey Natsu could you do me a favour" Zeref asked from his throne while drinking his favourite tea. Natsu turned to look at his brother who honestly looked a little too calm before he starts a war with Fairy Tail.

"Depending on what it is may I actually comply to do it" Natsu simply saids finishing telling the other demons what they are supposed to do when the war begins. Zeref sighs. He knew Natsu didn't exactly like it when Zeref asked favours from him. Mostly because they always ended up making Natsu a tad bit on the angry side.

"Fairy Tail... I don't want you to kill them" Natsu dropped the glass on the floor causing it to smash to pieces.
'And that's another glass gone' the Black Wizard thought once again sighing.

"Why the hell not. They're nothing but trouble and they most certainly don't need to live. are you not starting this war to get rid of them anyway. Why the hell shouldn't I rip their spines out of their bodies just for everything they've done to me alone" Natsu was to say not agreeing on Zeref at the present moment. Zeref wasn't surprised at Natsu's reaction. He knew very well that Natsu would act like this. Though not that he could blame him. Zeref bated Fairy Tail for what they had done to his precious brother. But in order for Natsu to have a better future. They needed to live. For his sake.

"Just listen to me Natsu. As much as I hate to admit this, they are a important piece for the future and I cannot have you killing any of them. You'll understand eventually. So please bare with me Natsu... my precious baby brother" Natsu was being sceptical about Zeref's strange behaviour but he is technically Natsu's master so it's not like he could disobey him anyway. Natsu sighed and put a hand in his hair. Sometimes he can't understand Zeref at all, even after spending centuries with him. He still doesn't understand his older (sometimes delusional) brother.

"Fine, whatever, do what you want see if I care" Zeref laughs at Natsu's childish behaviour.
"STOP LAUGHING"

Flashback end

'You win Zeref' Natsu thought. There was no way Natsu ever had a chance to win against Zeref. Zeref was always smarter then he was. He hated to admit it but Zeref was right.
"I'll allow it, just this once" he said causing everyone's attention to turn to him. They had asked what he was talking about. He was sceptical about saying it because once he did. He could never take it back.
"I... ah... hmmm" he couldn't even say what he wanted to say which was stupid he thought.
"T-t-thank you for being my friends" The guild became deadly silent. No-one ever thought that they would hear that from the demon. So they were a bit surprised at his sudden confession.

"You finally admit it. Took you long enough" Erza said as she hugged Natsu startling him in the process.
"We've always been your friends Natsu"
'Well not at the very start but that doesn't matter' she thought. Natsu rolled his eyes at her inner thought. Everyone else from team Erza came into a group hug. Erza forced Gray to join since he wouldn't do it willingly. After awhile they separated from the group hug and Erza asked Natsu what he wanted to do.

"Let's go on a adventure"
