With Sting and RogueAn hour had past since the competitors left the start point and Sting was pulling Rogue along what Sting called a bush track though by the amount of branches that kept hitting Rogue's face he thought that they might actually be a little bit off track.
"Hurry Rogue we can't let Natsu win" Sting said with stars in his eyes but Rogue wouldn't know that because of his blindfold."You know you could slow down a bit, we have ten hours to find the flag besides I keep getting hit by branches" Rogue said poorly trying to convince his friend to slow down a tad bit. Unfortunately for him, Sting wasn't paying attention and kept on going making Rogue sigh in the process. Eventually they came to a stop Rogue had asked why they'd stopped. Sting only replied with a small laugh which made Rogue suspicious
"What's so funny?" He asked"Well we seem to be a little... hm" Sting could sense the dark aura that's slowly coming to the surface of his friend and was definitely worried that he'd screwed up "you see I was ah... trying to... you know smell the flag out and such.. and you see..."
"Spit it out" the Shadow Dragon Slayer wasn't to impressed with his fellow guild member not only that but he also had a good idea on what he was going to say. Sting gulped.
"I ah... might've been tracking a... different scent" Rogue hit him on the back of the head not too hard but enough to cause Sting to grunt and rubbed where he was hit "I'm guessing that I was tracking one of those fake flags" he said with a small laugh causing his friend to sigh. Rogue that that something like this would happen though admittedly he thought that it was clever. For all they know this flag's purpose might've been to distance themselves from the real one.
"I guess we better get a move on, Jiemma won't like it if we loose again" Rogue said. Sting nodded, grabbed Rogues hand and started moving in a different direction. This time trying to avoid all the branches.
With Yuka and Sherry
Yuka was getting more or less annoyed with Sherry's complaints and confessions of love.
"How am I supposed to confess my love, if I don't know who I'm confessing to" Sherry said throwing her hand around dramatically and at one time hitting Yuka in the head. He got a tick mark and was seriously regretting his decision to enter this round. So he tried to ignore her as much as possible and just lead her through the rough terrain but even that was difficult for him, not knowing the terrain was certainly a disadvantage but he had know Jura for quite some time (since they were in the same guild) so he had an idea on where he might've put it.
"OHHHH MY LOVE WAIT FOR ME AND ILL RETURN SOON, ALL IN THE NAME OF LOVE!""Would you shut up!!!"
With Hibiki and Eve
They were following a river that was going from the beach to deeper into the forest Hibiki didn't have to tell Eve where to go because he was using his Archive Magic to directly send the path into Eve's head. Occasionally they would stop to change directions since they thought that they weren't actually getting anywhere with following the river bed. Hibiki would use his magic to sometimes see where the other competitors are and they know that no one had found the flag yet since the game hadn't been stopped.
Within the time limit of ten hours it would have been lucky to have the flag located so close by, but things are never that easy. So Hibiki came up with a theory that Jura had hidden the flag somewhere that might actually take ten hours to get and going by that theory, he thought that the only logical location for that flag to be is the mountain that was at the edge of the island. Hibiki thought that the other competitors might've thought the same thing so Eve would use his magic to slow everyone down. They thought that this was the perfect plan. Little did they know that it wouldn't be that easy. With Gray and Natsu
They weren't following any path whatsoever, they were just going through the bush which wasn't very pleasant but it was working, somehow. They were currently walking on rocks and not small one but fairly large ones. Unfortunately for Gray he kept having to tell Natsu where to step which wasn't exactly working as well as he hoped since he kept slipping one way or another
"Why couldn't you pick a different route, damn popsicle" Natsu said irritated that he was somewhat relying on the ice mage. Gray was trying ever so hard not to just let him fall"Unless you want to waste more time going around them, we have to go over them so stop complaining would ya. Stupid pyro" he mumbled the last part but because of Natsu advanced hearing, he heard it.
"I heard that, I'm blind not deaf" the demon commented, Gray rolled his eyes in annoyance
'Whatever' he thought.
"Step your right foot at 2 o'clock and be careful it's quite higher than the other ones" he said. Reluctantly the demon obeyed and did exactly that though it was more slippery than he thought and did slip a little bit but Gray grabbed his hand before he could fall over "I said to be careful""Whatever" Natsu wasn't exactly a fan of being babied, especially by Gray. They both continued on the rocks until they came to the end of them which was now just a forest ground, with the branches, grass and small stones in their way but they thought that it was better than climbing on rocks for hours.
"So where do you think the flag is""Who knows but from what I know about Jura he could've hid it somewhere where it would take ten hours to find, so I'm guessing that it could be in the place that's the furthest away from the start point"
'Then again I could be wrong'"Maybe that's what he wants you to think" Natsu said getting hit by branches which annoyed him constantly "may I ask you why you think that it was Jura who placed the flag somewhere" Gray stopped walking which caused Natsu to bump into him.
"What are you saying" Gray asked confused as to what Natsu was getting at
"Not once did Jura said that it was him who placed the flag somewhere for all we know it could've been one of the guild masters who hid it, or even one of the guild mages. It's neer impossible to identify who actually hid it since it could've been anyone" Natsu explained, though Gray wasn't exactly thrilled about his explanation though it did make sense, but now that leaves them with a even bigger problem. The flag could be anywhere.
"Damn, now what are we supposed to do" Gray sat down on a nearby rock, and started to think on ways to tell where it might be located though he was coming up empty.
"If you want my opinion, I think that we should go the opposite direction that we were heading in the first place"
"And why's that?" Gray asked curiously
"Quite simple, since you thought that it was Jura who hid the flag I'm guessing that everyone else had the same idea, so everyone would be heading to wherever the destination. So coming up with conclusion I'm guessing that whoever actually hid it knew that everyone would think that Jura placed it somewhere, so they would place the flag somewhere completely opposite on what everyone thought. Well thats my theory anyways, it could be wrong" Natsu explained, Gray thought over what Natsu had said and it made sense, it could even be correct, and as things go there was a small problem with his theory
"The place I believed that Jura would've hid it was over there" Gray pointed towards the mountain that looked pretty far from where they were now. If they went by Gray's theory on where it was it really would've taken the whole of the ten hours to get there.
"You know I'm blinded right" Gray mentally facepalmed he forgot about that
"The mountain on the other side of the island, that's where I thought the flag might be, but your theory makes more sense i guess, it's honestly something that a war strategist would think of"
"That's because I am a strategist, being with Zeref long enough you learn a thing or two" Natsu said leaving Gray unable to comment further
"Anyways where was it that you thought of? The opposite as you called it"
"You said that you thought it was a mountain, so the opposite of a mountain is" Natsu paused for a while and thought about it "water? Perhaps maybe a lake or dam, maybe even a waterfall" Natsu kept thinking on possible places that it could be. He hadn't had the chance to go explore the island yet so he didn't exactly know what was on the island.
"What about a river? There's one just east of here it would only take a couple hours to get there" Gray suggested. He took Natsu's hand (which he hated doing) and dragged him east towards the river.
