Chapter 24

Marie opened her eyes and whimpered as fire stretched across her stomach and chest. She shivered as ice ran through her veins. She lost track of time but knew something was going on and it was serious. She needed her Doc to get her feeling better and her Northstar and Superman for cuddles. She started to cry which caused her body to scream even more in fire and pain.

"Oh my beloved, you are getting sicker, its time to change your bandages," the man frowned as he wiped a washcloth across her face.

"I need a hospital," she whimpered. "I feel so sick."

"No," the man said through clenched teeth. "No hospitals, they ask questions and I would lose you."

"Please, I feel so weak," she whispered. "Im so weak something is wrong."

"Fine but no talking," The man said picking her up. "You talk and I will hunt those men down."

"Okay," she whimpered as he picked her up and placed her in his truck.

(Back at the hidden house)

"Its been three days now," Gabriel pouted.

"She could have lost so much blood by now," Sean pouted.

"Im sorry," Axel muttered as he laid on the floor.

"Its not your fault Axel," Marc shook his head. "You did the best you could. That man is just a fucking psycho with an obsession with our girl."

Owens phone rang and he frowned at the number. "Ice cream," he said putting it on speaker.

"Pizza. Is this Owen Blackbourne?" A woman asked in a hushed voice.

"Yes," Owen said curiously.

"Listen this has to be quick, no questions please. Im a nurse at a hospital. You can trace to find which one. I have a patient that slipped me a piece of paper and asked me to call you. All the paper says is Im not okay very sick phone is gone hour away from hospital woods water redline."

"Thank you miss. Now this is very important, I need you to keep her there as long as possible please, run every test there is to run do everything you can to stall so we can get there. I will personally cover any costs that has to be done to keep her there and the man that is holding her hostage. DO NOT call the police he will take her and run."

"Youre Blackbourne Toma Academy, arent you?" The nurse asked.

"Yes, and that woman is our bird." Owen said standing as Victor held up a piece of paper saying he has the hospital location.

"Understood. I will keep her safe at all costs. Im willing and will obey," The nurse said as an alarm went off. "Shit, got to go. Get here as fast as you can."

The phone disconnected and both teams rushed to their cars. "Ravenstahl this one time you can drive," Owen said tossing him the keys to the van. "Taylor will keep up." North nodded jumping into the other van. The hospital was eight hours away. There was no telling how fast they would get there with Raven and North driving, but they knew it wouldnt be eight hours.

"What is wrong with her?" The man asked as the nurse drew more blood.

"Well, we know there is more than one infection, but it looks like it is turning into sepsis and since you dont know her medical history and havent given her proper care to these mysterious wounds then we have to run more tests to make sure we dont accidentally give her something that she is allergic to. In her current state of health, she wouldnt survive an allergic reaction much less anything else we do without running the proper tests," the nurse said trying to stall as long as possible. She squeezed the patients hand and said, "Since you have been able to keep the ice chips down, why dont I help you to the bathroom so we can try and get a pee sample?"

"Okay," She nodded and the nurse helped her into the bathroom. Once Marie was sitting down the nurse whispered, "I got ahold of Owen Blackbourne and he is on his way. Im Academy and my team and I are trying to stall as long as possible. Im sorry Im having to poke you so much."

"Thats fine, thank you so much," Marie whispered, "Ill do whatever to get back to my men."

"You are done in there?" The man asked and Marie paled.

"Yes," the nurse called out. As soon as she opened the door Marie passed out and the nurse hit a button to call other nurses in. "Move out of the way," She told the man who tried to rush to her side. "Move or I will call security."

"I will not move," the man said, "What is happening with her?"

"MOVE NOW OR SHE WILL DIE," The woman screamed trying to keep her between the patient and deranged man. "Im calling security."

"Already here," Raven and North said from the doorway.
