Jason's P.O.V
(2 Weeks Later)
"And the pony dances with his friends all night longggg." Melissa's voice raises an octave as she sings a song that I'm not too sure whether is on one of the shows she watches or if she made it up, although my guess is the second option.
"Melissa, be quiet! I'm not gonna tell you again!" I hear Jazzy's voice grown even more annoyed with her younger sister, and to be fair, this was like the third or fourth time I've heard her say that to her.
"You're not the boss of me!" Melissa screams back at her just as I walk into the living room where all of the commotion was coming from.
"Hey hey hey, calm all that noise down alright? I already told you guys your mom doesn't feel too good right now so be considerate, yeah?" I raise an eyebrow at both girls that are now staring at me as I walk around looking for the board game Ava had been asking me about.
"Can you tell her to shut up then? I'm trying to finish a review and she keeps distracting me on purpose!" Jazzy glares at her little sister.
"Nuh uh! You shut up! Because I was here first!" Melissa's little face is red from anger now but I don't see it until I glance at her after finally finding said board game underneath a couple of magazines on the coffee table.
"Don't say shut up. Either of you." I sent a glance towards Jazzy's direction as she rolls her eyes before turning my attention to Melissa. "And you. You need to calm down and leave her alone just for a little bit, alright? She needs to finish her school work." I try to explain to the five year old.
"B-but daddy," she whines and looks up at me before slowly making her way over and raising her arms up at me. My heart melts at the sight of my youngest daughter, my baby girl, and I can't help but set the game down before gently lifting her up into my arms and holding her close to me where she rests her head on my shoulder and sniffles.
"I j-just wanted to have fun." She says softly as I rub her back gently. My heart aches at how innocent she still is and I place a kiss to her small temple.
I turn to Jazzy who is now looking at me with an expression I can't really read and decide to speak. "Does the review have to be done right now Jaz? You can't just play with her for a couple of minutes while I take care of your mom?" I try to plead with her.
She just scoffs and widens her eyes. "Are you being serious right now? You want me to stop doing school work? A review for a test I have tomorrow... to play with her? She gets her way with everything every time she so much as blinks a certain way and you never tell her no. That's why she's so fucking spoiled and is a terror to be around to anyone but you. You just don't see it because that's your little baby though, huh?" She gives me a sarcastic smile as she grabs shuts her laptop and grabs her backpack before staring at me expectantly.
My eyebrows furrow at her words and attitude. "First of all, don't cuss at me or at all for that matter. It's disrespectful and uncalled for. Second of all, she is just a baby Jazzy. I'm not treating her any different than I did any of you when y'all were here age, alright? I'm just asking you to entertain her for a little bit while I check in on your mom but if you're too selfish to do that for me right now then fine, just remember this whenever you want her or me to do something for you because that's unfair to us too." I say in a low voice as I look her in her eyes before grabbing the board game from where I set it down in the couch next to me.
"C'mon Melly-Baby, it's okay." I whisper to the child in my arms before placing another kiss to her head as I make my way past my oldest child and upstairs to tend to my wife.
