Chance's P.O.V

"Get out the street bubba," I sigh as I pull my uncle by the arm for the millionth time that day on our walk to my fathers house.

"It's okay, there's no cars right now Chance. I check and it's all good, don't worry Chance, don't worry." He pats my shoulder and I just nod silently and kept walking.

I look behind me and see Deejay picking up rocks to put in one of the jars he brought.

"Come on bro, I'm not finna keep stopping for you and your rocks." I groan.

I swear I could never just get from point a to point b with these two with me.

"This one has a lot of crystals Chance!" He runs up to me to show me the glittering rock.

I nod down at it and watch as he puts it in his jar along with some of the others.

"Does dad still stay in the same place?" Deejay asks me as we continued to walk.

I nod.

"He's been in the same place for a while now man, the only place he moves is somewhere worse than the last."

I turn the curb and Bubba and Deejay continue to follow close behind me.

"Can we go see Richard later today?" Deejay asks as I reach for his hand and grab Bubba's wrist before jogging over to the other side of the street.

I think about it.

"Yeah, so long as we can get to Michael's place before the sun goes down." I roll my eyes since it's early in the morning and we still haven't gotten there because of how easily distracted the two of them get.

"Why don't you call Michael dad? I call him dad."  He asks me.

I shrug.

"What is this? A thousand questions? How about you quit worrying about me and just focus on yourself right now, alright? That's how it always gotta be here and you know it. Better never let anyone consume your mind. Not dad, not me, and not mama, got it? Focus on bettering yourself man."

"Alright," he says right before we finally turn down the old neighborhood I had soon become familiar with after a short period of time.

We get to the apartment complex and to the red door that held the identity of 13b.

My fathers address.

I knock on the door and pretty soon it opens to reveal my father.

"Chance? What are you doing here?" He asks, squinting his eyes at me.

I rub my chin and stare straight into his eyes, not backing down.

"You had a visitor last night." I nod behind me towards bubba.

Bubba's eyes light up at the sight of my dad, Michael.

"Mike! Little brother Mike! Hi! Good morning! Good morning Mike!" He hugs him quickly before pulling away.
