Chapter 27

Avalannas P.O.V

"Okay, that's a wrap! Great work today Ava." The photographer smiles at me as everyone claps and soon makes their way back to their own stations.

I smile at Melissa who was sitting in a chair looking at everyone and everything that passed her in amazement as I make my way over to her.

"Ready? Ready to go back to room Melissa? Ready, remember?" I ask as I gently grab her hand in mine and lead the way back to my dressing room.

"Yes mommy." She says even though we're already on our way.

"Daddy called... he gotta call me back though because Jr got in trouble at school." She says as she hops in each square tile on the floor and tried not to step on any of the cracks.

"What you mean? What do you mean Jr in trouble at school? Huh Melissa? What'd you mean?" I ask her curiously and frantically.

But then I remembered Abel said he'd go pick him up and bring him here as the memory finally comes back to me that he got into a fight with another boy at school.

"He got in a fight! Is he gonna get a whooping mommy?" She asks me hopefully.

Always trying to get her brothers in trouble. (Me😂)

I go to answer her but am cut short by one of the entrance doors slamming open and my son walking through with his father-the man I no longer know- right behind him.

All I could see and focus on was his busted lip and swelling eye though.

"Jason Jr!" I gasp and run over to him and gently grab his face in my hands so I can look him over.

My eyes tear up lightly and I bite my lip at the thought of my first baby boy being hurt.

His eyes meet mine and they instantly softened... just like his daddy's always did.

"I'm okay ma, I promise." He grabs my face in both of his hands and stares into my eyes to help me believe that he's really okay before smiling lightly and placing a kiss to my forehead reassuringly.

Something that he did that always helped calm me down.

I just shake my head and bring him into my embrace anyways and rock us back and forth while I gently stroke his hair with my nails lightly while repeatedly telling him I loved him quietly.

"Daddy!" I'm caught off guard when Melissa's loud, excited voice yells out followed by fast footsteps.

Looking up from over Jr's head, I'm met with the sight of Melissa tightly wrapped in Jason's arms with his hand gently cradling her head into the crook of his neck.

"H-hey sweetheart! Hey baby! I missed you!" He whispered to her and kissed the side of her head repeatedly.

I watch in sadness as my baby girl clings to her fathers neck as if her life depended on it and if she let go, he'd slip away from her fingers.

"Melissa, t-time to go. Time to go r-remember? Have to go to the room now. Remember?" I whisper, not wanting to break her little heart even more at the fact that her father is about to leave.

"No! No daddy's here! Don't leave again daddy! Please don't leave me!" She sobbed into his neck and I could literally see Jason swallow the lump in his throat and his already red eyes start to water almost instantly at her words.
