Camilla's P.O.V

"Xander hurry up before you're late!" I rush him as I try to grab his backpack from my backseat with one hand with my other hand still on the steering wheel while he rushed to tie his cleats in the passenger seat of my car.

"I'm tying them as fast as I can! It's not my fault you had to pick Melissa up from mom's job!" He shouted back at me as I pull up to the curb at the park in front of the baseball field he would be practicing at.

"Whatever. Just hurry up and get out. I'll get your duffel bag and you can still change when you're done with practice afterwards." I sighed and watched as he  grabs his bat from Melissa and his glove from my dashboard before rushing out of my car and sprinting towards the field.

I shake my head and make sure he gets into the stadium safely before going to find a parking space.

After I finally find one and park my car, I grab my keys, phone, and wallet before grabbing Xander's duffel bag from the backseat after letting Melissa out.

I stuff my wallet and- after making sure my car was locked- my wallet in the side pocket of the duffel bag before grabbing Melissa's smaller hand in my free one before making my way towards the baseball field.

But to get to the baseball field.. I have to pass the basketball courts.

Praying that a specific person wasn't there the entire walk, I mentally freeze when I see two figures on the basketball court just how I remember them always being there.

"Come on man, you acting tired. You tired for real? Huh?" I hear his voice ask his little brother.

"Nah," I hear a younger voice deny before clearly starting to muster up some more energy after the accusation of being tired by his big brother.

"Yeah, that's what I thought. Thirty extra shots at the end of the day." The older boy says sternly.

"CHANCE!"

I mentally slam my head against the concrete and a brick wall about fifty thousand times at the sound of Melissa calling his name and making his attention focus on us.

She breaks free from my grasp and runs over to him.

Now I'm not gonna lie, it kinda hurt when I saw him lift her into his arms, even though he was sweaty, and start talking to her as if everything was normal.

Nothing was normal anymore.

And that bothered me.

He hasn't talked to me ever since he left out of no where. He never even tried to contact me as a matter of fact. And I sure could've used his friendship during this time of my life.

But he wasn't there.

Yet he's... here.

Right in front of me.

And I don't know what to do.

"Oh yeah? So then what happened?" I asked Melissa as she told me a story about what happened at day care during recess.

"So then I tell him that I can beat him in a race because he said girls never win! And I did beat him! Bad!" She smiled proudly.

"Alright," I chuckle and high five her.

I had slowly walked over to Camilla with Melissa still in my arms.
