Chapter 30

Avalanna's P.O.V

"W-what?" I whimper out, confused as I stare not only at the father of my children and my husband, but my best friend and my protector.

How come he didn't know who I was?

"T-that not funny Jay Jay, r-remember? Remember t-that not funny? Y-you can't p-play mean p-pranks on A-Ava. Y-you says so." I sniffle and wipe at my nose with my sleeve.

He tilts his head to the side and squints at me before wincing in pain.

"I just.. I don't know who you are." He shakes his head and puts his hands over his head. "Where am I?"

Just then the doctor from earlier walks in and looks slightly surprised that Jason was awake but smiled once he saw that he was.

"Ah Mr. McCann, how are you feeling?"

Before Jason could answer I spoke up for him.

"He n-no remember me! And h-he don't know h-his name is Jay J-Jay!" I cry and whimper to the doctor who looked from Jason to me then back at Jason.

"Mr McCann, can you tell me what your first name is?" He asks.

Jason squints as if he's trying to remember something he learnt in the fourth grade.

"I know it starts with a J.." he trials off.

The doctor nods and we just stare at him, waiting to see if he'll remember. After a good minute, I can tell that Jason is getting frustrated with himself and that this was all exhausting for him.

"I can't," he groaned.

The doctor gives him a sympathetic smile. "It's okay Mr. McCann, get some rest and don't worry too much about this, this is perfectly normal for this type of situation and me and my team will do our very best to get you back to normal in no time. I'll be back to check on you in half an hour, just call if you need anything." He exits after sending me one of my own sympathetic smiles.

We're sitting in silence for a while.

Nothing but our breathing and the machines around us beeping were the only sounds we could hear.

"W-what's your name?" He speaks up after a while.

And that question was like a huge reality check to me.

He really didn't know who I was.

The thought brings tears to my eyes bur I refuse to let them fall.

"M-my name Ava, remember? My n-name Avalanna but you's and other peoples call me Ava."

He just nodded his head once and continued to look at me.

"How do you know me? Are we related or something?" These questions keep getting worse and worse.

"N-no," I shake my head.

"Thank God," I hear him mutter as he turned his head away from me.

And there it goes once again.. the sound of my heart shattering in my chest.

"I is you wife." I find the courage to whisper even though his words stung me to the point beyond healing.

His eyes widen in surprise like he couldn't believe the words that just escaped my mouth.

"W-what? You're my wife? You out of all people?"

He sounded so surprised and confused and another emotion I couldn't describe.
