Avalanna's P.O.V

"Mama, I wanna go spend the night and Jenny's house." Melissa tells me for the eighth time on our way home after picking her up from school.

It's been a month and a half since the little incident in the restroom with Jason and I can honestly and proudly say that he has been doing so much better physically and mentally. He has also started to remember the little things and his doctor said that he should be remembering everything soon if he keeps going down the path he's going down now.

I shake my head at Melissa once again and glance at her through the rear view mirror. "No, um no, remember? Melissa is too-too young and Ava doesn't want baby to get hurt, remember? When Melissa is older, Melissa can spend the night at friends house please."

"It's not fair! I wanna spend the night today!" She screams and starts to kick her feet against her car seat in a tantrum.

Starting to get anxious and not really knowing what to do, I take deep breaths and grip on to the steering wheel to try to calm myself so I get can me and my daughter home safely.

"Stop-stop please Melissa. Um.. mom-mommy is getting nervous." I tell her quietly as I hum and rub my ear with one hand, the other still on the steering wheel.

"I don't care! You mean and I don't like you!" I know that she was young and I know that she didn't really mean what she said. But I didn't actually know that because my brain wouldn't allow me to process that fact.

Finally pulling into the driveway, we both climb out of the car without a word and I watch as Melissa storms into the house angrily with me following directly behind her.

"My girls are home!" I hear Jason's voice cheer from the living room. "What's wrong baby girl?"

I walk in to see Jason bringing Melissa into his arms and lifting her up onto his lap where he was sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Mommy won't let me sleep over at Jenny's for her slumber party!" She whined into his chest as he stroked her hair comfortingly.

"Aww, well maybe mommy has a good reason princess. What did she tell you when she said no?" He kisses the top of her head as he rubs her back.

"She said I'm too young and I can go when I'm older!" She looks into his eyes with puppy dog ones, knowing he always breaks at them and keeping out the part of her little speech where I said she could get hurt.

"Maybe I can talk to her and see what I can do, yeah?" He tilts his head and gives her a small smile.

A huge smile takes over face and she nods and clings onto his neck. "Yes! Thank you daddy! I love you!" She squeals and he laughs and hugs her back.

"I love you too sweetheart. Now gimme a kiss." He puckered his lips playfully and she giggled before pecking his lips.

That's when I step in.

"Melissa, m-mommy said no to-to sleep over already, remember? S-so no means no a-and that's it." I tell her.

"Well daddy said yes already so.." she shrugs and clings onto Jason's neck again.

Jason looks from Melissa to me, back to Melissa and back to me before realizing that we both had some pissed off facial expressions on our face.

"I-I-I didn't exactly say yes." He tried to defend himself real quick as soon as my glare landed on his face.

"I said I would talk to your mom about it first," he clears his throat awkwardly before continuing, "and seeing as how you seem like you've already definitely made up your mind, I can also see there's nothing else to discuss so..." he trails off.
