The night was dark. As dark as a black cat. The flickering street lamps gave a good view of the young girl walking down the street.
Her boots hit the pavement below creating a sound that echoed through the alley.
Despite knowing that she was all alone with no danger lurking around her she was still frustrated at herself for losing track of the time and ending up in the dark alley late at night.
She would certainly be lying if she said that she wasn't scared at that time.
But at least the darkness around her hid the monstrous beasts about whom she heard stories in her childhood.
Music acted as a distraction for her.
Her headphones gave her full access to the newly released song. She wasn't the kind of person who would find solace in music.
She would seek solace only in books.
The beautiful music reminded her of him. It didn't take a genius to know that the song was romantic. She was in love with her friend.
They had been close friends since they were pre-teens. They were both seventeen now.
If only he knew how much she loved him.
For her, such love stories existed only in books. She had always blamed the books for taking her into a fantasy world, making her dream about her one true love.
The thought of him made her sigh. She thought that this wasn't the time to dream about him. Instead, she should just enjoy the music and appreciate its lyrics.
A cold breeze blew around her making her shiver and wrap her arms around her.
She tied her hair into a messy ponytail and began walking towards her home with a frown on her face. The truth was that she had spent hours in the park and then took the wrong path in a hurry to reach her home.
And now here she was.
In her frustration and anger, she became completely unaware of a certain man behind her.
She wasn't aware that he had been stalking her for quite some time. But she wasn't a fool either.
There was a thing called as sixth sense too. She was now aware of a presence behind her but didn't make it obvious.
She walked quietly, humming to the song. Another wind blew on her face making strands of her blonde hair fall on her face.
She tucked them in her ponytail and continued walking.
Two paths were now visible in front of her. Being in the town for so many years she knew that the right path would take her home. But she chose the left path.
Hoping that the stalker wouldn't know that she took the wrong path she kept on walking.
If only she knew how wrong she was.
As soon as she took the left path he knew that it was the wrong one. He knew that she was well aware of his presence.
There was now no time left to waste. It was now or never.
The song came to an end and so did their game of hide and seek.
She stopped abruptly, pulled out her headphones and put them in her school bag. She turned around confidently facing him, a threatening look plastered on her face.
''Well," she began politely, "would you be kind enough to tell me the reason for your stalkerish behaviour sir."
All the man did was smirk. He took out a syringe with a purple-pink fluid in it. It was some sort of a chemical.
