(Y/n's POV)
---

"Frisk, what should we do??" I asked her in panic.

"We should try using Mercy?" Frisk pressed the MERCY button and tried sparing her.

"..." She muttered. A wave of fire came in our way, so we dodged the best as we can.

It was my turn now so I tried pressing Mercy...

"......" She was silent. Another fire attack was used. We ried dodging it again, leaving me little marks across my arms and legs.

Both of us struggled to keep up the pace. Eventually, my body became weak each minute. Both of our HP is at 2...

Tried pressing MERCY again and again, but... some second later she started talking.

"What are you doing?" The same attack again, but something feels off... Our HP is at 2 and Toriel's fire magic didn't aim towards our souls.

"Stop looking at me that way!" As I tried to bring my soul close to the fire, it repeled.

A few turns of Toriel's attacks were the same as last one. After, she stopped... We still tried to press the MERCY button.

"I know you want to go home, but..." She stopped attacking. This took us by surprise.

"Please go upstairs now." She said. We stood there, silent as we can be... still pressing the same button...

"I promise, I can take good care of you here." And again...

"I know we do not have much but... w-we can have a good life here." And again...

"Why are you making this so difficult?" She looks like she's about to cry. We still managed to hold on...

"... ha ha... Pathetic, is it not? I cannot even save a single child..." She looked at us with a sad smile.

"Please... let us go..." I mumbled. She looked down, and then with a heavy heart...

"No, I understand. You would just be unhappy trapped down here... The Ruins are very small once you get used to them. It would not be right for you to grow up in a place like this." Both of us stood in shock. We couldn't think of it like that!

"My expectations, my loneliness, my fear... for you, my children... I will put them aside." She said.

By the time after she spoke, the room was filled with colors again.

"If you truly wish to leave the Ruins, I will not stop you. However, when you leave... please, do not come back... I hope you understand." She said.

She hugged both of us. I felt like crying. I couldn't believe that we actually have to leave her.

"Do not cry, my child. You will be fine, I hope I could come but, it is your choice..." She whispered in my ear. I began crying even more.

She pulled away, and she wiped my tears away.

"Goodbye, my children." She proceeded to leave the room, but stopped to look back. I silently waved goodbye, and the echoing footsteps faded away.
