Chapter 27: Chaos Ensues

Nova's scaly body was cold against your touch, awaiting for you to finish saddling her up. Thankfully, her wing had completely healed up, nothing left from the tear except for a barely visible scar.

You yourself were armoured up in a matching set to Nova's, the only problem was; your darkened demeanour clashed with her brighter one. The others watched you carefully finish saddling the large serpent up, pondering your next choice of action.

"There we go girl, all saddled up..." You mumbled, nuzzling Nova's cheek with your own. She had a wing wrapped around you for comfort, knowing you did not want to take her into the fight against Pitch for her own safety.

"We must think of our next action everyone," North said, holding Tooth and himself up. "Who knows what Pitch has done now..."

"That is why I will leave first." You said, climbing onto the saddle and holding onto the reins attached to the bridle, "if Pitch is nearby, I can try and speak with him...and maybe if I get to Jamie first, he'll be able to see me..."

"You can't go alone!" Tooth cried, "what if you get hurt? What if we can't find you...."

"Burgess is where Jamie is, it's a rather small town so I will be nearby..." you said, staring into your lap, "As for if I get hurt...you saw my memories, I've endured a helluva lot worse than Pitch can ever deal out..."

North sighed, tracing his greyed beard with his large hands, "We trust you...we'll catch up as fast as we can."

A small smile crept onto your lips, "I guess I'll see you all in Burgess then..."

"We'll see you soon love...stay safe..." Bunny said, kissing your hand gently.

"I'll try, Aster..." you smiled, gripping onto Nova's reins and soaring off. Bunny, North and Tooth watched you disappear, their own fear setting in.

"You all need to hurry..." a sudden voice said. North, Tooth and Bunny spun around, only to see Vanish holding Rogue in her arms. "Like Rogue said, soon the Empire will turn into a chaos filled wonderland..."

"What is that supposed to mean..." Tooth questioned, gently holding Rogue's tiny little hands.

"Look around, flowers with eyes? Walking chairs? The clouds are pink!" Vanish said, "all of this is happening because Harmony's gone! All order in the Empire has disappeared and the only way to achieve order, is for (Y/N) to be believed in..."

The Guardians all looked around, only just now noticing all of the chaos that has ensued. The Palace was covered in vines with eyes and mouths, clouds were pink, chairs and tables had grown minds of their own and were chasing after all the inhabitants of the Empire. And there were most definitely more furniture than there were Royal Guards.

"You all need to leave...now! I'm going to try and help stop the Chaos here," Vanish ordered, pushing them all onto the now rickety sleigh. "I'm going to find a safe place for the Princess, there are caverns on the island below the floating Empire. If you survive against Pitch, you'll find Rogue there."

"Vanish, are you going to be alright...." Tooth said, worry filling her voice.

"I will be alright, sister...go help the children so this Chaos will end..."

The three of them looked at each other, nodding to Vanish and waving her off. North slashed the reins of the sleigh down, soaring off into the sky, however not as graceful as usual. Vanish watched them disappear into a portal, holding onto the tiny Princess.

"Let's find somewhere safe for you, Princess..."

Meanwhile

The night air was chilling against your skin, frost piling up and forming a small layer over your once warm cheeks. Yes, Nova did provide some warmth, but it was lacking now that your wings no longer provided warmth either.
