"Jack! Wai-"

He smashed the staff down onto the ground, ice exploding outwards. The fire from the torches blew out, snowflakes drifted down from the open windows and everyone stumbled backwards, well, with an exception of you.

You couldn't move, the frost that came from Jack's staff had crystallized and frozen your legs into a massive block of ice. It was freezing, to say the least. You tried so desperately hard to free yourself from the icy prison your son accidentally froze you in. You attempted to use your sword as a pickaxe and even attempted to use the same flames as you had before. No use, your flames weren't hot enough to even remotely melt it. To no avail, it was hopeless. The room was dead silent with the exception of your groans of frustration and you stared at Jack, the pure look of displeasure written across your face.

"What makes you think I want to be a guardian?" Jack broke the awkward silence.

You slapped yourself once again, the little waddles of footsteps tapping their way over to you, stood the elves with little pickaxe's in their hands. And slowly they started to pick away at the ice, adorable, but failing horribly.

Bunny came and stood behind you, miraculously pulling you from the ice with great force. Your legs were like noodles, or even jelly, as you stumbled backwards into him.

"Thanks Bunny."

"Not a problem, sheila."

You stretched your wings once more and began to levitate from the ground. North began to howl with laughter, it was so loud you had to cover your ears as everyone looked just as confused as you did.

"Of course you do," North bellowed, snapping his fingers, "Music!" The trumpets began to play once again, the elves happily playing along.

"No music!" you and Jack shouted. Like mother, like son. The music finally went quiet and the elves threw down their instruments with frowns. "This is all very flattering but, uh, you don't want me. You're all hard work and deadlines-" he leaped onto one of the desks and sat on top, "- and I'm snowballs and fun times. I'm not a guardian."

"Yeah, hey. That's exactly what I said!" Bunny elbowed North, Tooth held her hand out to prevent another argument. "Jack, I don't think you understand what it is we do-" she flew to Jack and turned him to face the globe, "-each of those lights is a child."

"A child who believes," you continued on, tracing your fingers along the edges of the tables.

"And Good or Bad, Naughty or Nice-"

"We protect them," you finished North's sentence as you wobbled to Jack, "You've seen my work kiddo, you've seen your sisters work, we help the children of the entire world."

"Ah! Ah!" Jack gagged as Tooth rummaged around in his mouth, peering at his teeth.

"Tooth! Fingers out of mouth," North instructed. She flew away complimenting them after apologizing. Jack hopped back from the desk and stood beside your hovering form, lending you his staff for support.

"Okay. No more wishy-washy," North's tone became serious, and it actually scared you for a moment, "Pitch is out there doing who knows what!"

You gasped and North let out an 'oh no'. You slowly floated back to the ground gripping your sword. Your halo began to drip and feathers scattered around you.

"What's happening to 'er?" Bunny exclaimed, your shaking seeming to alert their instincts. Jack knelt beside you confused, lifting your face up. Your eyes were empty.

"They're not going away Jack, the nightmares are only getting worse," you cupped your head in your hands and tried to rid yourself of the migraine, your eyes filled with tears, only for you to blink them away.

"I'm sorry, I just have a bad past with Pitch," you sat on the desk, your halo returning to its curved state and the feathers turning to ash and fizzling out of sight' "continue on."

"Pitch is the boogeyman, right?" Jack asked, sitting beside you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders.

"Yes. When Pitch threatens us, he-"

"Threatens them aswell," you accidentally interrupted. You cupped your mouth this time and gave an apologetic look to North.

"All the more reason to pick someone more qualified!"

"Pick? You think we pick?" you stood up from the table, gaining your complete strength to walk once again. "You were chosen, like we were all chosen!"

"By Man in Moon," North finished for you, gesturing to the planet that hung in the sky.

"What?..."

"Last night Jack, he chose you," Tooth said.

"Maybe," Bunny finished.

"Man in the Moon...he talks to you?"

"He talks to me most of the time, it's been awhile since he's contacted here," you said leaning on your sword with a less than pleased look written on your face. "You cannot say no Jack, trust me, I've tried to run from it. It's destiny."

"But why wouldn't he tell me that himself?" Jack sighed, "after 300 years, this is his answer? To spend eternity like you guys cooped up in some, some hideout thinking of new ways to bribe kids? No, no. That's not for me!" he shouted, "no offense."

"How-how is that not offensive?" Bunny stammered, "Ya know what I think? I think we just dodged a bullet. I mean, what does this clown know about bringing joy to children anyway?"

You stood upright and raised an eyebrow, curious to where this was heading.

"Uh, you ever hear of a snow day?" Jack asked sarcastically, "I know it's no hard-boiled egg, but kids like what I do."

"But none of 'em believe in ya, do they? Ya see, you're invisible mate, it's like you don't even exist."

"Bunny! Enough," Tooth exclaimed, clearly pissed off by their arguing.

"No, the kangaroo's right."

Your eyes went wide and you stepped forward, your sword dragging along the ground.

"The what? What did you call me?" Bunny growled, "I'm not a kangaroo, mate."

"Oh, and this whole time I thought you were," Jack retorted, "If you're not a kangaroo, what are you?"

"I'm a bunny. The Easter Bunny," he snarled, "people believe in me."

"Enough of the childish bickering!" you slashed your sword down between them, barely missing their faces as you hovered off the ground. Awkward silence ensued for a few moments, "Jack, can you go with North. He'll explain everything and has something for you."

A minute passed of you just glaring at eachother, the silence succumbing the world around you. "That wasn't a question, that was an order. Now go."

He walked off with North towards the elevator, pleading in his eyes as he stared at you, going down to the lower levels of the workshop until he was out of sight. You landed back onto the ground and groaned, walking to the railings that kept you from falling off the platforms and leaped off the edge, soaring to the globe and sitting on top, the silence comforting you as another headache began to pound inside your head.
