You shot quick glances from Bunny and Tooth, until she gestured to the window where Jack lied in silence, and North just giving him company. You looked back to the two and gave a quick gentle smile, hovering towards the window. Leaving them alone. Leaving Bunny alone...
You eyed the boy with worry as he painted a silhouette of Sandy onto the window with frost. Smiling, you sat down beside him, North seeming somewhat more confident now.
"Are you alright?" North began the awkward conversation. Jack peered up to North and yourself beneath his hoodie, sadness clouding his eyes and dark circles lining them.
"I just..." he began, looking to you for an extra boost of confidence, which luckily, he gained from your small grin, "I wish I could've done something."
"Done something?" North questioned, his deep Russian accent growing thicker by the second, "Jack, you and (Y/N) stood up to Pitch. You both saved us!" he leaned against the window proudly, smiling.
"But Sandy-"
"Would be proud of what you did," North finished gallantly. Jack looked back up to you, your smile giving a sense of warmth and prosperity. He tugged his hoodie off and stood to his feet, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Snowflake.... I know Sandy is proud of you," you said, standing to your feet alongside the two, "if he were here now, he'd be beaming!"
Jack was silent as he faced away from you, kicking his staff up into the air and letting it rest on his shoulder.
"Jack, please-"
"But would you be here?..."
You were confused by his words as you cast a quick glance to North, who was just as confused by him. He turned back to face you, his eyes glossy and slightly puffy, "if you were fast enough, you would've taken that arrow, just like you took that bullet."
Your voice was quiet as you mumbled to yourself. What if you had been fast enough? Does that mean Sandy would be here? North cleared his throat and his hands fell to your shoulders, spinning you around so you were facing him, "you have sacrificed your life many times (Y/N). I believe it is time to for you to rest."
You turned away and stared out the window into the dim clouds that hung in the sky. Their words stung, but it was like the old term, the truth really does hurt. You let out a sigh and turned to face them with a determined smirk, "you both know very well, that I don't rest, not anymore."
North let out a small chuckle as he watched you, before turning to Jack, "we do not know who you were in your past life."
"But in this life, Jack, you are a Guardian," you finished with a glistening smile.
Jack's face fell to confusion, his ice blue eyes reminding that of Rogue's, "but how can I know who I am, until I find out who I was?"
"You will, snowflake," you smiled, taking his hands into yours.
"I feel it-" North began and you rolled your eyes playfully, "- in my belly."
You snorted and burst into laughter, until an unfamiliar stinging pain came to your chest. You coughed quietly as the two looked to you with worried glances. You smiled, telling them you were fine, and watched them walk away. Just as they were out of sight, you turned to the window and stripped your hand of your steel glove, the sight horrifying you.
Patches of grey lined your skin, mainly in your palm. Black dust swirled around in your hand and you growled with disgust, clenching your fist to rid yourself of the sand. You snarled, pulled your glove back on and hovered into the main area of the upper workshop, ignoring the slight stinging sensation rupturing inside your chest.
