It was cold, dark and screams of terror pierced the air. Your armor scraped against your body and sweat dribbled down your face. The sword between your fists clashed against the one of the Fear Pirate, forcing it to slice it's own head off. Hyperion was in a state of despair and lost all hope, being under attack by hundreds and thousands of fearlings and fear pirates. With you and your brother as Head of the Royal Guard, meant you both needed to lead the battle, no matter the consequences.

You flipped over another pirate, your sword becoming caked in black liquid. Shrieks rang in your ears as fire burned in your eyes. Everything reeked of death, hell, you didn't even know is Kozmotis was alive or not!

Another pirate came up behind you and briefly cut your cheek, only for you to whip around and smash your boot into it's face.

"Don't fail them (Y/N)," you encouraged yourself as you valiantly led the course of the battle. You finally cleared the fearlings and pirates at the main entrance. Your army was coming out on top as you galloped through the kingdom to the palace, shouting encouragement and inspiration to your team. You sprinted through the palace doors and into the throne room, where your brother's sword clashed against the pirates.

You joined him in the raging battle and smirked, holding your hands out to him as fearlings began to close in. He nodded to your seemingly newfound plan and grasped your wrists tightly, you doing you the same.

He began to spin around and around, lifting you into the air. You held the sharp edges of your boots out and sliced against their stomachs and necks, all of them dropping to the floor, dead.

"My sister finally knows how to have some fun, eh?"

You simply nodded in approval as he let your wrists go, and you landed back on your feet, standing upright. "I always have Koz-"

HELP, SOMEONE PLEASE!

You began to bolt in the direction of the voice, Kozmotis following on close behind, "Don't worry Emily! We're coming!"

You swerved around corners and checked every single room, there was no sign of your little seven year old niece. Along the way, there were very few fearlings and pirates, and you took them down quite easily. You rounded the last corner, there was only one room left in the corridor. Kozmotis glanced at you and nodded. You stood on one side of said door, your sword held with a tight grip.

Without any moment's hesitation, he slammed his foot into the door and kicked it down. You barreled into the room. The walls were coated in stunning green wallpaper, birds and plants painted onto it, seeming so real. Plants and seedlings laid scattered the room as a gorgeous silver vanity sat beside the bed, it would've been even more charming if everything wasn't stained with blood.

A little girl, her hair as black as a raven's feathers and dressed in a cute little green dress lied on the floor. Thousands of cuts littered her body and multiple stab wounds pierced her torso as blood spilled and pooled out from her small, frail body.

"P-papa...? Auntie...?" she croaked out, blood dripping from her lips. You raced over and lifted her into your arms, "Emily? Honey?! C'mon Emily, n-no more pranks, please! Please... stay with us..."

She smiled at you and Pitch, "don't forget me..." she gave your hands a small squeeze before the light finally left her eyes, becoming glossy and filled with tears.

"Nononononono! This can't be happening!" he screamed, tugging his daughter's pale body away from you, "the-they can't take away my beautiful little girl!"

"Kozzy... we need to go..." you rested your hand on his shoulder as tears spilled from his eyes. You took the girl from his arms and rested her in the pale green bed, closing her eyes and kissing her cheek. Kozmotis stood beside you as your tears finally began to downpour, your eyes becoming a puffy red. Who knew by just taking one thing, could hurt so much...

You quickly locked the windows and drew the curtains shut. You smiled weakly and tugged Kozmotis out of the room, securing it behind you and shattering the keys.

"She'sgoneshe'sgoneshe'sgone..." he kept repeating to himself as he doubled over onto the floor, his tears sliding down his armor.

"Kozzy... Koz please..." you urged for him to look at you, "Koz, look at me goddammit!" You forced him to face you, the tears from your eyes staining your cheeks, "we need to go."

Moments passed and he nodded vulnerably, standing up beside you and raced to the dungeons on the other side of the palace. As you progressed, you slashed at the pirates, their dark blood spilling onto your armor.

A set of stairs leading downwards came into view and your sprinted for them, trying so desperately hard not to fall onto your face.

At long last, you reached one of the most sacred area's of the palace, sure it was the dungeons, but this is the safest area you can get.

"(Y/N)! Pitch!" two familiar voices called out your names as you sprinted for them, Kozmotis staying behind at the door.

"King and Queen Lunanoff?! Are you alright?!" you shrieked, gripping the bars of the protective chamber that contained the two, including their dearest child ,"where's Nightlight?"

"We have no idea darling-" the queen stroked the sleeping child's face as she spoke, huddled up beside her husband, "-he left awhile ago to fetch you."

Your face scrunched up in disappointment, your most loyal guard just upped and left without your consolation. You sighed, "as long as you are all safe and sound..."

They smiled weakly at you, until their faces turned into shock and fear. You raised a brow to question their look of displeasure, when an unfamiliar pain seized at your lower abdomen. You let your fingers brush against the area, only to find crimson blood and a steady blade.

Slowly, with your bones crackling as you moved, you craned your neck around as tears welled in your eyes. Standing there, with his head held high and the most sadistic grin you've ever seen plastered to his sickly pale face, stood your brother, and behind him, Nightlight.

He was wrapped in chains as Pitch's eyes grew into a cold black abyss, black ink-like liquid seeming to drown out his irises, leaving only a set of bright yellow pupils. Your knees trembled and buckled. You fell to the floor with a loud thud, his sword being ripped from your body as it created a larger and more serious wound.

You gasped and huffed for air as you stared into his cold dead eyes. Possession. This wasn't Kozmotis. This thing- this monster, wasn't your brother. You couldn't believe it. You refused to believe it!

You slumped against the cool floor and smiled. After all this time, you stared into his eyes as he raised his sword, the same piercing sting from before filling your body, and finally, your eyes lost their beautiful (E/C) hue.

"JESUS CHRIST!" you shot up in fright and looked around. You were secluded in a stunning dark room, golden and silver trinkets lying beside your weapons. You rubbed your eyes and massaged your temple, "will these nightmares ever end...?"

Just as you left the bed, your bedroom door creaked open to reveal a young teenage girl. She had long curly brown hair and her luminated blue eyes pierced your own. Her wings, just like yours, were bright white and dragged along the floor as a little golden tiara adorned with hearts sat atop her head.

"Rogue? What are you doing up so late...?"

She scrunched up her nose, "I know you've been having nightmares again, mom." She flitted her way towards you. "Stop lying to us."

You looked away, ashamed of yourself and sighed. "Go back to bed darling, I'm fine."

She just stared at you, before groaning and walking out, not before saying, "you know what they'll do when they find out."

She closed the door behind her, leaving you alone. You lifted your legs out from your silky, black duvet covers and stood up. Feather's scattered around you, blowing to and fro by the chilling breeze that entered through your window.

You sighed and locked them, looking out onto the moon, "I wish I could've done something to protect you Manny... it's all my fault..."

You drew the curtains closed and slipped back into your bed after ruffling up your feathery wings, sleep finally hitting you like a brick.

But if only you noticed the shimmer of the Northern Lights that
shone dimly above your kingdom.
