"...Well, are you a customer?" The girl asks again, looking at Gabriel.
"I uh- y-yeah, I'm customer." Gabriel stutters
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Customer." She smirks.
"Well- actually, my name is Gabriel-"
"Well, nice to meet you, Gabriel. You can call me Lan." She gives him a warm smile.
"O-okay...Wait, wasn't the alchemists name Barny?" Gabriel asks.
"It is." Lan chuckles. "I'm his granddaughter."
"That makes sense." Says Gabriel.
"You're not from around here are you? The town doesn't get that many visitors lately and I've heard something about skyborn this morning on the market. Are you perhaps one of them?" Lan leans in closer which makes Gabriel blush.
She's too close, way too close!!
"Y-yeah." Gabriel stutters, looking away.
"That's so cool! I can't believe you're an actual skyborn! I've read so many stories about your kind!" Lan seems very excited.
So she likes to read? Well, her grandfather is an alchemist after all.
"Yeah I guess it's kinda cool." Gabriel crosses his arms, trying to look cool.
"My grandpa is working on something but I'm sure he won't mind meeting a skyborn!" Lan grabs Gabriels hand, dragging him into the other room.
"H-hey, wait!"
A few moments and rooms later, they enter a room filled with tables and bookshelves. There are potion bottles, herbs and paper sheets scattered on the tables, some were on the ground as well.
Across Gabriel and Lan, with his back turned to them, was an old man with long, gray hair, wearing crimson-red robes. He mumbles to himself while working on something.
"Grampa! We have a guest!" Lan exclaims excitedly.
"I told you to deal with the customers while I'm working, Alandrinna." The old man says while focusing on his work.
Lan pouts. "This isn't any customer, It's one of the skyborn!"
The alchemist stops. "Why didn't you say so?" He turns around, revealing his long gray beard. "A skyborn in my shop, what an honor! Interested in the ways of alchemy perhaps, young skyborn?" He walks towards Gabriel.
"I um...well I actually just-"
"No need to be shy!" The old man puts his hand on Gabriels shoulder, pulling him to the table he worked on.
On it, Gabriel sees a large beaker filled with a thick but partly transparrent pink liquid. It had a refreshing smell of strawberry and it was...moving around.
"Let me present you...the slime clean!" Says the alchemist proudly.
"The what."
"Hygiene is a large problem in our town, now more than ever, considering the hot spring has been closed, so I've been working on a harmless slime liquid that can be used to clean oneself easily!" The alchemist sounds like a mad fanatic.
"Uh huh.." Gabriel tries his best to listen.
"You take fresh slime of a slain slime, amplify it's properties, bringing it back to life in a way but weakening it's dissolving properties. Along with some other ingredients to make the mass stickier, less liquidy and smell better, it becomes a handy bath to go! Dirt sticks to it and it gets dissolved and the slime leaves a pleasant scent behind!!"
