"The air here is so clean, I can smell all the flowers around us too! I just can't explain this feeling but it really feels like we're in a magical world!" Gabriel says cheerfully as he and Ivan walk down the dirt path.
"I know, right?" Ivan answers with a smile.
I'm glad Gabriel found atleast some positivity, I feared he'll just stay depressed but it seems like he'll adapt quickly.
"I still think we're gonna die, though." Gabriel adds.
"I-I see.." Ivan smiles awkwardly.
He's back with the negative attitude, I don't understand this kid at all!
Also, now that I'm standing next to him, he's rather tall for his age, and while I'm not the tallest guy around, it's still embarassing being shorter than a 15 year-old..
"We finally reached the walls!" Gabriel says cheerfully.
Wow...those are some tiny walls. I mean they looked impressive from a distance since the only thing on this field we could compare them to are some wooden huts but still...Well, it's a fantasy city, it probably has some invisible energy shield protecting it or something..
The big wooden door started opening with an unpleasant creak, and a tall bulky man in plate armor stood at the now open entrance with 2 men in similar uniform standing behind him.
"WELCOME, STRANGERS, TO THE WONDERFUL CITY OF LYUGO!" The man shouts, raising his arms in a welcoming fashion.
Ivan looks at him "Uhm...thanks, you see we-"
"MY NAME IS GOLDEGAR" The man cuts Ivan off "I AM THE HEAD GUARD OF THIS CITY, SWORN TO PROTECT IT AS LONG AS MY HEART BEATS!" The man continues, shouting like there's no tomorrow.
"...Lovely." says Ivan, slightly annoyed.
Gabriel takes a step forward. "Uhm, sir...we are just a couple of steps away from you, so we would appreciate it if you could lower y-"
"I WILL BE THE ONE ASKING QUESTIONS, SUSPICIOUS TRAVELLERS!" Goldegar cuts off Gabriel, his friendly tone suddenly changing.
Gabriel looks at him "That wasn't even a questi-"
"SILENCE, WE'VE HAD MANY SUSPICIOUS FACES AROUND HERE AND A BIG PROBLEM WITH GOBLINS, SO WE HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH PEOPLE ENTERING OUR WONDERFUL SETTLEMENT!" Goldegar seemed hostile.
Ivan stares at Goldegar, then looks at Gabriel, then again at Goldegar.
"Well, as you can see, mister Goldegar sir, neither my partner here nor I happen to be goblins." says Ivan. Gabriel nods in agreement.
"Hm...indeed.." Goldegar mumbles to himself, caressing his thick brown mustache.
Ivan looks at Gabriel, giving him a reassuring smile. Gabriel returns it.
"STILL!" Goldegar shouts, startling both Ivan and Gabriel.
"YOU SEEM TO BE OF THE SUSPICIOUS KIND! STATE YOUR BUSINESS IN OUR WONDERFUL CITY!"
Ivan takes a step forward. "We are uh..travellers! Yes, and as you can tell by looking at us, we were robbed."
"Hmm..that would explain the lack of proper clothing in the lower area.." Goldegar mumbles to himself while looking a Ivans legwear
"What?..Oh yea- right, exactly!" Ivan continues "So we came to your wonderful city seeking protection and...work?"
Goldegar gives them a suspicious look. Gabriel starts to sweat while Ivan just keeps grinning like an idiot, waiting for a hopefully positive response.
