Chapter 3: Skyborn Losers!

"..S-skyborn..?" Nanami mumbles in disbelief.

"That's impossible! I think we would've realized if skyborn were in the guild!" Belka stands up.

"We have witnesses who claim to have seen very strange lights appear in the sky earlier this morning." An elderly man in a dark fancy-looking robes comes out of the group of guards, now standing next to the much taller captain of the guards.

"...Penta? You can't be serious.." Nanami was shocked.

"There's also an older fellow who saw a man without pants fall from the sky around that same time period. I also got reports of two strange men entering town." Penta looks at Ivan and Gabriel.

"That would explain their unnaturally high stats.." Nanami sighs.

Everyone else in the room turn their heads to the two.

"Us? No no no, we are just simple travellers who got robbed." Ivan shakes his hands dismissively.

"Nonsense. The evidence is clear to me." Penta crosses his arms.

Gabriel starts panicking. Ivan turns to him with a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry about it, I'll get us out of here." he whispers.

Skyborn, huh? They all seem frightened by us. Guess there's only one way to get out of this.

Ivan then turns to the crowd, taking in a deep breath.

"HAHAHA! OUR COVER HAS BEEN BLOWN! WE ARE INDEED SKYBORN AND HERE TO CONQUER THE WORLD, SO JOIN US AND SECURE YOUR RANK IN OUR ARMY OR PERISH NOW!" Ivan shouts, raising his hands.

There's an awkward silence.

"...Dude." Gabriel looks at him.

The guards and people in the room give eachother confused looks.

"That's quite amusing, young skyborn, but be not afraid, we are not hostile." Penta smiles.

The old man takes a step forwards. "I am Penta, the Mayor of Lyugo. I would simply like to have a word with you. After all, skyborn don't appear next to our town all too often...or at all really." Penta continues.

"Ah...But of course! This was just a test to see your reaction! Aha-ha..ha." Ivan tries to sound confident.

Gabriel just stares at Ivan.

"Before we get ahead of ourselves, please allow me to finish the adventurer ID creation first. I'll get more info on them and we'll atleast know for certain if they are regular humans or not." Nanami steps in.

"Of course, Nanami." Penta nods "And allow me to say, you look absolutely beautiful today." Penta says with a slight blush.

"Oh my." Nanami puts her hands on her cheeks. "Don't make fun of me, mayor, I'm in uniform and my hair is a complete mess!"

"Always so modest, Nana-chan, but I assure you, you're just as beautiful as ever." The mayor chuckled.

"My~ please, Penta-kun." Nanami blushes, fidgeting.

Oh boy.

Ivan covers Gabriels glasses.

"Nanami still has all the men chasing after her, you know? She's the town beauty after all." Belka comments, standing next to our two scarred heroes.

Town beauty? I'm sure she was, a good 60 years ago!

"Ahem!" Ivan pops the bubble Nanami and Penta were in. "Could we please finish that registration thing now?"
