It was a gloomy day in the ruined town filled with savage monsters who sought out to murder the remaining human resistance.

"Hargh!" With a clean slice, Ivan claims the head of a gruesome humanoid fiend.

Hastily moving through the blood-stained streets, He reaches an open space that seemed to be a town square. Though the countless corpses on the floor turned it into a gruesome execution site.

In the middle of it is a large human-like being surrounded by black smoke, it's body barely more than a shadow. It was strangling a man who desperately resisted, aimlessly punching and kicking around. As the man ceases to resist, the shadowy figure finally drops his lifeless body to the ground.

Ivan could only watch in terror before the creature suddenly turned to him, its neck making a dry knack. At that moment, Ivan and the creature lock gazes. Noticing him, the monster lets out a disgusting chuckle.

Ivan begins to tremble as a burning sensation fills his chest. The thought of running away crosses his mind, but he decides against it. Mustering up all of his courage, Ivan raises his swords.

Before I realize, the figure appears in front of me. It would be embarassing calling what I did next a resistance. I could only swing my sword once before he grabbed me by the throat

"You're weak. You always have been." Its deep voice sends chills down my spine. I helplessly jerk around as it holds me up in the air by the throat. "I will erase your existence this time around." it growls.

Gathering the last bits of my strenght, I kick myself out of its grip before I make a run for it. I hear an evil chuckle as I escape the square and head back into the bloody streets of the ruined town. My legs were heavy and I felt slow, but didn't stop. Panting heavily, I dare to look back, discovering a taller and bulkier monstrum chasing after me.

Picking up the pace, I continue running through the shrinking alley as the heavy footsteps behind me grow closer and closer.

As the beast closed in, my heartbeat grew faster and louder before I ultimately tripped, falling to the ground. Unable to react, I could only watch as the disfigured entity approaches me.

"..IVAN!"

.

"Haahh!!" Ivan sits up in his bed, cold sweat running down his naked upper body.

"..Ivan?" A gentle female voice fills the room.

Ivan turns to the left, discovering Lynn who watched him worriedly.

"I knocked but you didn't answer so I thought I'd let myself in." She explains. "Are you alright?"

"Y-yeah." Ivan sighs. "Just a bad dream.."

"I see." Lynn sighs. "Eita and his party came. They invited us to dinner at Kyla's. Apparently there will be some special food to celebrate our return."

Special food...?

"That's oddly nice of Kyla." Ivan comments.

"Well, it was Penta's request I believe

It was a busy evening back at Kyla's inn. Even more so now that the skyborn have returned.

"Cheers!" The skyborn, Goldegar, Lan as well as Eita and his party clink their wooden mugs. They all take a chug of their drinks before sitting down again.

The inn was filled with locals and adventurers enjoying drinks, warm food and good music. Though all of that comes to a stop as Goldegar stands up again, clearing his throat.
