Memories ~ Attack on Titan

Chapter four

-2 years later-

"Miche, hey Miche wait up!" A 12 year old Rin shouts as she runs down the hall. The tall man stops walking and turns to face the small girl. Rin catches up to him, now out of breath she hangs her head and tries to catch her breath, "You're the strongest ones here next to my dad." She starts to say still panting, "teach me, please." She ask with her breathing now steady as she looks up at the blond man in front of her. The man looked down at her with and emotionless expression, "teach you? What is it you're hoping to learn from me?" Rin raised her eyebrows, "I want to learn how to be strong, like you and my dad. But I can't ask him for help, I want to make him proud of me! So please." The young girl pleaded. Miche was silent for a moment before ruffling the girls hair, "sure kid. I have some things to do now but meet me in the field in a hour and I'll do my best to help you." Rin's eyes lit up and she couldn't suppress the now huge smile that grew on her face. "Yes! I'll be there I promise! Thank you so much!" She said happily. Miche smiled softly at her and turned and walked the other direction.

Five months had gone by since she started training with Miche. Rin had become incredibly skilled In hand to hand combat thanks to Miche, her stamina had built up at lot too. Not only that but she still studied often with Hange and Moblit so she was pretty book smart too. She had fun doing experiments with Hange and freaking out Moblit.
Several months later while sparing, Rin's lungs felt like they were on the verge of collapsing, "Miche please, can we take a break? It's been 3 hours now." Rin pleaded in between heavy gasps for air. Miche laughed and walked over to her,"Tired already? You know Titans won't give you a break." Rin fell to her knees in the grass wiping the sweat from her forehead with the bottom of her shirt. Miche knelt in front of her, "you know Levi has already taken down countless Titans and is about to be assigned his own squad, meanwhile you can't even take down one man." He said in a hushed tone, he knew that this was the best way to motivate her. After all these months of training the pair actually got pretty close. Miche knew just how to motivate her and trigger her emotions. And he was right, Rin bolted up and lunged at the man, He dodged her and fists begun to fly, mostly from Rin. Finally she landed a hard kick to the mans jaw causing him to let go of his grip on her. She took this opportunity to kick his legs out from underneath him and send him flying to the ground. He laid there on his back as she put her foot on his chest, she smirked at the man lying on the ground, "one man down, and a thousand titans to go." She announced. Miche laughed at her, "not bad kid. Not bad at all." He said as she removed her foot and held her hand out to help him up. "You're how old again? You should be able to go into the military soon."He said half serious. She punched his arm, "I'm only 10, so I still have a couple more years." Miche laughed, "that's right, how about some dinner?" He asked. Her stomach growled in response. "Yes!" She said In an exhausted yet satisfied voice.

                        
Rin had spent the next Two years training with Miche. Her Physical abilities enhanced tremendously and even if she was only 12 years old, Miche was seriously impressed.
One day Rin and Miche were sparing in the field, levi stood inside the headquarters building and watch the two from a small window. He was lost in thought when Erwin Smith came to stand next to him, "pretty impressive isn't it, only 12 years old and Shes learned so much and gotten so strong. Don't you think so, levi?" Levi was silent, of course he was proud of his daughter but it was his daughter. The light had returned to her world once again, but he felt a pang of jealousy. He was her blood, and it seemed that out of all the scouts he spent the least amount of time with her. Rin was close with Hange and Miche and looked up to Erwin in every way. He wondered what she thought of him. Did she know he loved her? Did she even think of him? Erwin spoke again pulling levi from his thoughts, "what's wrong?" Levi clicked his tongue and walked away from the man, "I don't have time for this, you're making me captain correct? Well show me who I'm working with." Erwin laughed to himself and smiled as he followed levi down the hall. He felt the jealousy seeping from Levi, "very well then."

Rin lay on the ground, Miche sat next to her as the both struggled to catch their breaths. Rin sat up suddenly and looked at the man sitting next to her, "thank you, for everything you've done for me. I feel so much better, I feel so, so powerful. And it's thanks to you. You, Hange, Erwin, my dad, you're all so amazing. Do you think I'll be like you?" She said looking him in the eyes. She had been holding those words in for a while and she wasn't sure why but she was scared tj finally say them. Miche frowned,"this wasn't my doing, your hard work is what did this. You'll one day surpass all of us Rin." After he said this he stood up and held out his hand and helped the young girl stand. It was starting to get dark outside so the pair headed inside for dinner.

Rin lay in bed that night wide awake. She kept thinking about her future. Would she ever be able to add up? Would she even be a good Soldier Or would she die in vein? She tossed and turned all night. She started thinking about her father, she hadn't really spoken to him recently and when she thought of that she couldn't help but feel sad. She loved Levi more than anything And wanted nothing more than to be just like him, her whole life she's looked up to him. Now it felt like he was only a small part of her life, when he was the one thing that drove her to want to be strong, that drove her to want to be smart, and that had inspired her her whole life. She hoped he knew how much she loved him, even though she couldn't remember the last time she had said it. Tomorrow he would be assigned his squad, and she would use that as her opportunity to get to know him again and maybe even make friends with the people in his squad. This was a comforting thought and on that positive note she was able to fall asleep.
