Chapter seven

Rin pov

"RIIIIIIIIN"
I pulled th felt a weight on her bed. "Common you gotta get up it's our last day with you!" Petra shouted while jumping on my bed. I groaned and turned over, my back now facing Petra. Petra stoped bouncing for a moment and I felt myself relaxed and started to fall back asleep. Suddenly Petra jumped on me again and yelled. I sat up in a panic and pushed her off. "It's too early for this stop Petra." I said with my voice still deep with sleep. But Petra smiled and got up, "hurry us so we can all eat breakfast together, " and with that she left. After several minutes I finally got the strength to leave my warm bed. I put on my black button up that I stole from Levi,  black trousers and my black boots. I looked at myself in the mirror, my long, straight, black hair hanging down to my elbows now laid down my back in tangles and my short bangs lay thinly over her eyes. Man I need a hair cut
I brushed through my hair with her fingers straightening it out. My eyes shifted to my night stand before leaning over and opening the drawer and pulling out a pair of scissors. Petra usually cut my hair for me but if im going to be gone for a while I might as well learn. I leaned close to the mirror and sniped my bangs until they were above my eyes. Satisfied, I threw the scissors back in the night stand and headed out for breakfast.
I entered the dining hall only to be suddenly tackle hugged. "I can't believe you're leaving us Rin!" Hange shouted as they hugged me so tightly that I felt my lungs struggle for air.
I sat at the breakfast table and today we all ate together, which was pretty uncommon.

After a satisfying breakfast I started to walk back to my room to get my bag, out of the blue I felt a hand on her shoulder, stopping me in my tracks, "Oluo?",
"it's tough out there kid, you sure you have what it takes?" I looked at the man behind me, narrowing my eyes in a playful manner, "is that a challenge? Besides, if they let you graduate then how hard can it be." I said unable to contain my snickers. Oluo pushed me back, "watch it now kid for I put ya in your place." I narrowed my eyes at the man and he did the same. After a moment of eye contact Oluo's lips curved into a smile and then so did mine. Our relationship was rocky but we were close, Oluo didn't always know what to say but he did know how to clam my nerves. "Good luck out there, you'll need it." He ruffled my hair, then turned around and left in the same direction he came.
Once in my room I quickly got my stuff together, I charged down the hall where I was hoping to catch a familiar man who promised to walk me out. I saw him in the distance, facing away from me. I ran and delivered a strong punch to the mans back, luckily for him, He had fast reflexes was able to turn around and catch my fist just in time. I pulled her hand away and poured, "damnit Miche, I'll win one of these days." In my excitement I failed to realize that my father was here too. Levi looked down at me with his typical emotionless expression, "watch your mouth." He said sharply. I bowed, giggling a little as I did so, "sorry father." When I looked up not only had my father been there but Erwin, Hange and Moblit were there too. I held onto Miche's arm as Hange talked my ear off the whole way outside. Once we got to the exit of the building I stood in the doorway, admiring the sun. It was moments like these when I felt truly grateful to be alive. Suddenly I felt someone ruffle her hair from behind, I turned around, "oh, Gunther you scared me," Gunther smiled at me and chucked, "sorry Rin, we just wanted to wish you a good bye." Petra scooped me up, "we'll miss you." She said and pretended to cry. Eldo smiled while Petra was hugging me, "good luck out there." He said with a small smile. Petra released me and I looked at all of the people around me. Commander Erwin knelt down in front of me, he pulled something out of his pocket and placed it in my hand. I looked at it, it was a necklace with a little pocket watch attached to it. I popped the watch open and watched the hands move. "You know Rin, this belonged to my father, one of the only things left of his. It's one of a kind." I felt tears well in my eyes and I hugged the commander tightly. "Thank you." I said in a whisper, our moment was suddenly interrupted by Levi. "Sorry to cut things short but Rin, you're going to be late." He said. I slipped the necklace around her neck and nodded. My father began to walk away from the crowd and I had to run to catch up to him. I grabbed onto her father's arm and held it tightly. Levi kept walking but looked down at his daughter, "aren't you getting to old for this?" I felt a pan in my chest, but I was used to his coldness. "Dad, are you sure I can do this, what if I disappoint you?" Levi sighed and looked down at me. "You won't, just don't let anyone find out about that thing." Was all he said. I sighed too, hoping for something a little more, but the two kept walking. I looked back at my friends who were all waving goodbye to me and whistling and shouting. I smiled and turned back around. It was time for a new beginning I suppose.
