Chapter fourteen

Eren and I flew after the colossal, but once we reached him. He was gone. Eren looked at me in disbelief, "he vanished."He said calmly. Then Thomas called to us from, "Hey! Did you take it out or not?" Eren looked up at Thomas "no! He's gone! Just like 5 years ago!" Eren and I zipped up to the top of the wall to meet up with Thomas and Connie.
A garrison member ran towards us, "operation colossal is now in effect, report to HQ."

When we got to HQ we were instructed to fill our tanks and prepare for battle. I stood in the supply room and watched all the people panicking and running around. I felt my heart beating out of my chest, my eyes became heavy and my knees felt weak, but I also felt a strange sense of calm for myself. I had no fear in what would happen to me, but I refused to let anything happen to them.
Then I started thinking about my dad, he'd be calm no matter what was at stake.
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. I just needed to pretend like I was my father, and I'd get through this. Then I heard Armin voice, he was yelling as Mikasa and Eren were standing at his sides. I decided to swallow my nerves, I needed to take charge and keeping a straight face. I stood behind Armin and placed my hand on his shoulder, "Armin, you're yelling, calm down," I said In a low, steady voice. Armin looked back at me shocked before relaxing his face and fixing his eyes on the ground, "I know, sorry." I shook my head before speaking again, "this isn't a drill anymore, this is real, if we panic and lose our cool we're all as good as dead. Besides, if you're worried about dying, don't. Mikasa and I will protect you, you to Eren, neither of us will let you die," I said calmly, I turned to face Mikasa, making eye contact with her, "I'll help you too Mikasa," I said making eye contact with the girl who showed no emotion to my words, then she finally spoke I'm her monotone voice, "yea, you too."

I pushed through the people looking for Jean before I finally spotted him and Marco talking up against a far wall. I jogged over to them. "Jean..Marco." I said, relieved to see them. Jean looked down at me unamused, "sorry Rin but I'm not really In the mood, Incase you didn't notice we're about to get eaten alive." I rolled my eyes, "take this seriously please. You have all the proper training and you know what to do. Plus, I won't let you die." Jean let out a dry laugh,"well that just makes it all better then. Whatever Rin, find me when this is over. If I ever see you again." He said and he stalked away.
I turned to Marco, not letting Jean's coldness affect me,"Marco, if you get into trouble look for me, promise me you'll look for me." Marco laughed a bit, "of course Rin, I want to protect the both of you too. So let's stick together the best we can."
