Memories ~ Attack on Titan

Chapter five

Rin woke up bright and early the next morning, the sun had not yet fully risen and it was surprising she was this awake. She jumped out of bed and ran to her dresser and pulled out her Navy blue trousers and her white button up shirt. She put on her black boots while she buttoned her shirt and ran out of her room.
She was so excited she couldn't contain herself. She woke up extra early completely by accident but when she opened her eyes she was full of energy. She seized this opportunity. She knew her dad would be up and she wanted to meet him before he got pulled into a meeting or something. She ran down the hall with her shoe laces still untied. She turned a sharp corner and saw her dad talking to a group of people she haven't seen before. She was starting to feel anxious but I didn't let that stop her. Once she reached the grass she stoped running and casually walked up to them. Levi looked down at her,"why are you awake?" He asked. She smiled awkwardly,"i just woke up early and thought I'd come see you." He looked at her for a moment but the silence was broken by a girl with red hair, "wow Is this your daughter captain? She's so pretty." Rin looked up at the red head, she was very pretty with short hair that brushed her shoulders and the softest looking skin. Then another man chimed in, "I dunno sir this ain't really a place for children if you know what I mean." Right as he said this the girl elbowed him hard, "oluo be polite!" The two started arguing and pushing each other. Two more men walked up to Rin, the one with short brown hair spoke to her now, he laughed a bit, "sorry, that's Petra and Oluo. I promise they're a lot nicer then they look. I'm Gunther and that's Eldo." He said with a smile and pointing over to the blond man next to him who also gave her smile. Levi put his hand on his daughter's shoulder and she instantly smiled back at the men standing in front of her. Petra pushed Gunther and Eldo out of the way and knelt down in from of Rin and gave her the biggest smile. Rin thought Petra was wonderful and so beautiful, "you're so pretty, so what's your name?" She asked. Before Rin could respond Levi spoke up in an almost angry sounding voice, "Her names Rin." Petra and the Others looked at him taken back. Then he looked down at me even more annoyed then before, "Rin, go back inside. we're busy here can't you see that?" Rin instantly protested, "But dad can't I watch you guys! I promise I'll stay out of the way and I won't say a word!" Before Levi could protest Petra chimed in, "yea let her stay and watch! If she decided to go into the military it would be good for her to see what is it that we do!" Gunther joined in as well, "with all due respect captain, why not?" Levi looked down at me, "fine, stay out of the way." He said as he walked off.
Rin's heart pounded and her face curved into a smile as she and then rest of his team followed behind Levi.

                            
After that Rin fell in love. She fell in love with all of them. Petra taught her how to braid hair and do other girly things. When she wasn't training with Miche she was usually found with Petra. One of her favorite things in the world was when Petra would take her up to the top of the hill and watch the sun set with her. They would pick little flowers until the sun began to set and when it became dark the pair would chase fire flys and little frogs. And Gunther was always very nice to her, he would always help her get things off of high shelves and ask her how her day was going. She never really spent any alone time with him but she could tell he was a very kind man. And Eldo, he didn't speak much but he would always smile at her when she passed him in the hall and at dinner time he would always give her half of his bread since everyone knew rolls were her favorite. Oluo a the other hand didn't seem like he liked her much, but occasionally he would ruffle her hair or tell her she was a good kid. Petra would often argue with Oluo which somehow caused Rin to join in. Oluo and Rin would practically bully each other but they both knew it was all fun and games. Oluo helped Rin's bad days feel better, whenever Rin was having a really bad day Oluo would provoke her on purpose and let her scream all the insults she could think of at him. Unleashing her anger made her feel better and when she would calm down Oluo would ruffle her hair and give her a small side smile and call her a brat or dumbass kid. She appreciated all of them and their kindness and she truly loved them all.
For the next three years Rin had the time of her life. She would be busy all the time, either hanging out with Petra, fighting with Miche or doing experiments with Hange and Moblit. She still drew which Commander Erwin loved, he had a section in her office dedicated to her art.
The scouts were her family, and of course she never forgot about Isabel and Farlan, but as she got older her memories of them got more blurry. On nights when she found it hard to picture Farlan's face or remember Isabel's laughter she would stay up for hours into the night forcing herself to remember every detail of her past. It didn't matter how old she got she would never let them he lost in a sea of memories. And when she remembered them she didn't cry anymore, she didn't scream in pain, she smiled.
