Chapter twenty one

It was early the next morning, we were finally heading to scout headquarters which wasn't the same place that I had grown up. That made my hart hurt but there was no helping it.
We stood in front of a stable when a man approached, section commander ness, I was never close to him but I remember him. "attention! I'm section commander Ness! And this is my horse, Charette." I leaned over towards the man, "Dita Ness. Hey!" I said just feeling good about seeing a familiar face. Ness looked at me with a wide smile, "Rin! You're here. I'm glad, it hasn't been the same without you." I felt a genuine smile grow on my face. I felt Jean's eyes on me as Ness continued, "fair warning about Charette, likes to pull hair so I'd watch out if you don't want to go bald. Rin can tell you about that." He said with a laugh. I rolled my eyes, "please don't tell that story." I said covering my face is with my hand.
When I was younger I lost a chunk of hair thanks to that damn horse.
Ness laughed, "we're glad to meetcha all." Suddenly the horse grabbed onto ness's head wrap as Ness yelled at her, "stop that you freak. Can I get a hand here you guys."

After that we were showed to our rooms. Their wasn't enough for everyone to have their own so naturally we were sharing. I was put with Mikasa and Sasha which I couldn't complain about.
The 3 of us were in our room as the sun began to set. I looked out the stone window, watching the sun set below the trees.
I wonder what Levi and the others are doing right now. Im kind of disappointed I didn't get to see them.
Sasha broke the silence, "so is this where you grew up Rin?" I turned to look at her and sighed, "no, this place is actually smaller than where we used to be."

We started training the next day, by training I mean lectures from Ness. lectures about the newest plan.
After training we were walking to get some dinner, I wasn't paying much attention when all the sudden I heard a familiar voice, "Mikasa! Armin! Rin!" I turned around and saw Eren running towards us. The 3 of us stoped in our tracks, "I'm so glad to see you!" Mikasa looked worried, "have they hurt you? Have they subjected you to any cruel experiments?" I laughed, "this isn't that kind of place Mikasa." Eren laughed too, "no actually everyone's been good to me."
Mikasa's gaze turned dark in an instant, "that shortie took it too far, I'll make him pay." I felt awkward. She was right but it felt weird saying that. Then I saw Oluo. A smile forced itself on my cheeks as I left the group. Jean and Eren turned to look at me as I ran to Oluo and gave him a bear hug. Eren gasped, it was probably weird because these guys come off so harsh.
Oluo felt against the wall, "what the hell Rin," he laughed. I felt so happy to hear his voice, "miss me?"
Oluo rolled his eyes, "Actually it was nice having some peace and quiet for once, part of me was hoping you'd change your mind and hide in the interior." I smiled at teasing, this felt nostalgic. I pulled away from the man,"where's the others?" Oluo scoffed, "around here somewhere. By the way Rin. You gonna introduce me to your new boyfriend or what?" I felt my face heat up, "what?! What the hell are you talking about don't be stupid?!" He laughed and bent down to get in my face, "I saw his hand around you at the recruitment ceremony. What his name? I feel bad for the poor guy." My face was red hot as I argued, "that was just Jean! He's  just my friend! Ugh mind your own business!" He squinted his eyes at me, "watch it kid im more popular with the ladies then you realize." I rolled my eyes, "yea? Try telling that to Petra, still haven't taken her out yet? Anywaysss, Im going to go find my dad." I said turning to walk off but I glanced at Jean before doing so.
Why does he always look so upset these days?

I think he noticed me staring because he approached us now, "where are you going?"
I looked up at him cheerfully,"to find my dad, come with me." Jean smiled awkwardly and looked away, "I uh, heard some things about your dad, I don't feel like getting beat bloody."
Oluo cleared his throat. I rolled my eyes, "Jean, this is Oluo, since he's insisting on meeting you and making himself known for some reason." Oluo laughed before ruffling my hair. "Hey!" I pushed his hand away, "I'm not 10 anymore you can't just screw up my hair like that." Oluo rolled his eyes, "since when did you become such a princess? How find your dad kid, ive gone more important things to worry about."
I pulled Jean along as I walked. I went to the stables first, after a mission my dad always cared for his horse first.
I could feel Jeans nerves. Levi was walking out of the stables when we got there, he stoped when he noticed us. My dad didn't show any emotion to seeing me. As we approached him I went in for a hug, "I missed you." I said quietly. He put one arm around my back, hugging me. He didn't even respond to me before asking, "who's your friend?" I pulled away from and motioned for Jean to come here. He looked so awkward just standing there. "Jean, he's one of my best friends." Levi studied Jean, he looked ready to pull him down by his collar.
