The Woman of His Past

I could write the rhythm of my emotions, note by note, yet, as the sea of sky began to lodge in my eyes, I slowly understood that a footnote would be enough, only a footnote. Not at the top, but always under a thousand words.

The morning light fell on my face. My eyes began to move towards Bryce. I saw him gulp for a moment before clenching his jaw and letting out a deep sigh.

"Good to hear!" He smiled and gazed at me for a few seconds.

Ngumiti ako at huminga nang malalim.

The tension within my stomach began to ebb. I could feel the bolt of triumph sprouting inside my chest, like a flower blooming magnificently. I grew less frightened by my uncertainties. I grew to love these inscrutable emotions. I have pondered such roots within Dos' palms. This was nothing like the movies; this was more than the blood of poetry, the astuteness of each sonata, the beauty of music, and the soul of each novel. This was more than I could understand. The flame within those dazzling eyes was more than the beauty of the earth's soil and water. He was more than his mundane possessions. I could feel the tongue of sweet air brushing against my face. Such a visage could tame my visions.

"T-Talaga?" hindi makapaniwalang sambit ni Gwen.

"Huh?" usal ko.

"Gusto mo si Dos?!" she exclaimed. Tumango ako at ngumuso.

"Oh?" Gwen murmured out of nowhere.

I increased my speed as I tried to catch up with him. There were some students roaming around the quadrangle, but I restrained myself from paying more attention to them. I could hear whispers about Dos.

"Siya 'yong nakita ko noong Sabado! Kasama niya 'yong member ng The Fourth!" usal ng isang babaeng nakasuot ng Type A uniform.

I could see them through my peripheral vision. I could hear the hiss of each word they uttered. I could feel the hate in each syllable, the disgust and envy, name it all.

Sikat na nga ang bandang The Fourth.

"Talaga? Sino ba siya?"
