"Good morning, Alannah baby!" I rolled my eyes when I heard Jedd's voice behind my back.

Tumigil ako at hinintay siya para sabay na kaming maglakad. Nakakahiya naman kung hindi ko siya pansinin. Agad ko siyang hinarap pero si Bryce ang una kong napansin.

"Hi! Good morning!" masaya niyang bati. Tumango naman ako at ngumiti. Nilingon ko na lang si Jedd na nasa tabi ko. Nagulat pa ako sa pagmumukha niya.

"I miss you, kangaroo!" he cheerfully uttered. I shivered.

"Miss mo mukha mo!" inis na sabi ko at binilisan ang paglalakad. Tumawa naman si Jedd at pinitik ang aking noo.

"Ouch, cockroach!" aniya at hinawakan ang kanyang dibdib na tila nakadama ng matinding pighati sa aking sinabi.

The morning was as fresh as daisies until the devil came to pester me.

"Tumahimik ka nga!" I darted him a deadly look. His eyes grew hard. I did not care.

Time folded in. I did not waste another second staring at his face. I moved my feet, as if I were brushing a bloody staircase. The road was high and steep. I was breathless. This is where my patience is tested. I have no faith in the hills. I drew my thumb over my forehead, sensing any sweat. Thankfully, it was not as wet as I had thought. I paced through the doorway of our classroom and placed my bag on my chair. I was exhausted from walking early in the morning.

"Pagod ka na agad?" Jedd's voice thundered near my ears.

I could pray to the gods to vanish his existence right away. I did not dare to talk. I picked my comb and began to brush the dark strands of my hair. It moved like the waves of the ocean. I could feel the bareness of my hair and its slight rough texture. I grimaced as I heard the most annoying voice in this room.

"Wala pa 'yan sa workout ko!" he boasted his body, as if it were carved by a sculptor. I shuddered in fear.

"Oh talaga?"

"May six pack abs ako!" he said and flexed his biceps.

I narrowed my eyes in confusion. I could feel the awkward atmosphere forming between us. I choked my laugh and proceeded to shake my head. I was trying to hold myself together. I tried hard, yet I failed. I burst into laughter. I exploded like a madman. I did not care anymore. He suddenly arched his eyebrows, confusion written all over his face.

"Mukha ka na ngang kalansay, eh! Nagpapatawa ka ba, Jedd?" I laughed. I heard a screech from the doorway. I unconsciously jerked my gaze towards the direction of the sound. I saw Bryce.

I saw his face. I suddenly felt the urge to fix his messy hair, yet I restrained myself from doing so.

"Gusto mo lang makita ang abs ko, eh!" Jedd's voice began to fill the corners of the room once more.

I crossed my arms and gazed at his face.
