Murderer

Two days had gone by since Shinto's departure. Kyo sparred with Koga more often to take her mind off the big hole the angel had left behind.

The fact that she hadn't even mentioned a visit pissed her off. Kyo ended up punching her friend in the face. "Uhh!"

"Shit, Koga, I'm sorry!"

Koga held his nose, wriggled his nostrils around a little and gave a chuckle. "Now that is a good hit, my friend."

Kyo smiled softly at his stupid comment. But Koga noticed that the smile didn't quite reach her eyes. Usually, if she were genuinely content, the corner of her eyes would crinkle. Her mouth would part just enough to show her two fangs.

But her mouth kept shut, and she smiled for less than a second. "I wish I could cheer you up."

Kyo cocked her head, "smiling doesn't mean I'm fine to you?"

He strached his neck, "not when it's not real."

Kyo sighed. "I guess I'm not great at lying then; sorry if I've worried you. I...miss her, is all."

The male wolf closed the distance between them and swung an arm around his friend's neck. "You'll be alright, and she'll be alright." Kyo looked up at him as the height difference made her crane her neck. Blue eyes meeting even bluer ones, sky and sea.

Some lightness he'd never felt stirred in his chest by staring into her gaze. Almost like the very colour of her irises, he could find himself drowning in but...in a pleasant way.

"Koga?" The wolf demon snapped himself from his trance and coughed abruptly. Instantly re-creating the distance that was initially between them. "Ah, sorry! Got-ah-distracted! Yeah.....so I think our sparring match is done."

Kyo pouted and folded her arms flat against her chest. "But I was only just beginning to beat your ass."

"That's why I'm stopping it." He gave a curt nod and a salute—his form of goodbye. But Kyo didn't want him to go just yet, so without thinking, she grabbed his wrist just before he sped off.

As he turned to stare at her with a raised brow, he asked. "Something else you want to tell me?" Oh, there were plenty of things she wanted to tell him, like how he was an idiot for going after Kagome, his pointless taunting of Inuyasha and how annoying he could be to herself, especially.

But what she wanted to say was the words kept locked up in her heart. She never had the guts to admit them to him all those years ago, and unfortunately, that remained today. Watching him chase after Kagome, laugh, smile and touch in her ways she knew only he viewed as intimate.

It ached, and honestly, she had no right to get angry at him when her jealousy bubbled to the surface. Her pissy attitude was directed towards him for hurting her feelings that he wasn't aware of and had no business in caring whether he did or not. Koga did not owe her anything; sometimes secrets need to stay secrets. Not that she was planning on pouring her heart out right here, right now.

She let go of his wrist and averted her gaze to the grass. "Look after yourself." He only responded with a quizzical expression before turning to leave.

A rush of the wind he left behind in his trail blew Kyo's high ponytail roughly about. Making a few strands of hair stick up, she patted them down and walked to focus her attention on Kirara.

The small twin-tailed cat purred softly in the wolf girl's lap. Helping the brown-haired woman feel content once again as the day drew on. Kagome had the usual argument with Inuyasha, which resulted in his face getting pummeled into the ground.

One question plagued her thoughts, playing on loop repeatedly when she let her mind think. Was Shinto ever coming back? "You can't just leave after coming into my life; I took for granted the impact you made in such a short time. I have Koga, but...I need you too, Shinto...come home." Kyo leaned her head against the hut's wall and let one tear slip free.

Eon hugged Shinto as his eldest daughter returned to him. Sinta did not indicate how she felt at her sister's return, emotionless as ever.

Shinto's gut churned and roiled with anxiety. Almost enough to make her throw up her insides, especially with the glare the Archangel Balor threw her way. His wings were tucked neatly behind him. Usually, the older man had a stick up his ass. Balor looked young in appearance, but he'd been around long before their grandfather was born. So he was old in age but not mentally or physically. Taking up the post once the past Archangel stepped down. Becoming a human on earth and dying there as all the predecessors did.

He brushed a hand through his silver locks, a grin replacing the glare. Shinto much preferred the glare as then, at least, she knew what she might be in for. But this...she'd find out, she supposed.

His yellow eyes locked on her, stopping just two steps in front of her. "So you decided to return to your home Shinto. After such a long and perilous wait."

Oh, so badly did she want to let loose a barrel of insults at him. But considering her position, she thought better of it, so instead, she asked a question. "How was it a perilous wait for you?"

He patted down the non-existent crinkles on his white suit. "Because I'm planning a wedding."

"That concerns me how?"

He chuckled, and his face was filled with nothing but dark glee. "You're the bride, dear. My bride."

Shinto's pupils became tiny as she felt the air leave her lungs. Wanting to scream out one word, no. No! No!

Kyo didn't know when but at some point, she'd fallen asleep. Her ears picked up voices speaking outside. Groggily, she stood up and exited the hut. Letting her eyes adjust to the afternoon light, soon the blurriness subsided, and she could put a name to the voices. Inuyahsa, Kagome and someone to whom her memory failed to give an identity. Until the stranger made to face towards the hut, and those features now made a haunting memory return.

Her features twisted into a feral hate—a wildfire brewing in her veins at the man who had slain her parents with his claws.

She sucked in a breath and shouted, "Blazing Strike!" A crackle of tiny, blue sparks sprung from her claws as she made a slashing motion with her arm. Sending those incredibly sharp sparks at her enemy.
