The beast inside her

Inuyasha slammed the sword down, and Balor almost made good on his threat. But Shinto's eyes snapped open; only they weren't the shining yellow anyone recognised. Inuyasha's sword was returned to its original size as black energy crackled around her. Horns sprouted from the sides of her head; black wings flared from her back instead of white.

Her irises were now slits, her ears were directly pointed, and fangs appeared from the top of her gum. The most concerning thing was the red eyes.

Inuyasha stepped back; he knew this was the other half of her blood. She'd changed once before when her mental health had gone south once. Kyo stared into those unfamiliar red pupils; her gaze switched to Balor, who backed away cautiously.

"So you've shown your disgusting form, devil scum!" Her eyes slid to the monster of a man, "says the angel who was going to put those dirty lips on mine." Kyo's body froze as her voice...her voice dripped with malice; where were her usual kind and clear tone?

She looked down at the white dress she'd been forced to wear. "What tacky clothing." She slid her hands from her torso down to her feet. As she did so, the dress looked like it was disintegrating, and in its place, a black tunic and pants replaced the white dress.

Her red eyes zoned in on Inuyasha, and suddenly she beat her wings. Inuyasha had to doge a midnight-coloured spear aimed at his head; the tip only sliced his cheek. He instinctively placed his hand on the shallow scratch. He saw a small pool of blood coating his palm.

Koga shouted at him, "Inuyasha, watch out!" He looked up in time to see two more spears headed at him. He luckily unsheathed his sword and deflected each with the blade. Kyo became severely confused, "why is she attacking him?"

Johnny said behind her, "Because she's of half-blood, she can't control this side. Her devil form is made purely out of hate; any negative feelings she harbours intensify as a devil. Since she hates Inuyasha and hasn't completely forgiven him, she'll try to kill him."

Kyo's head whipped to face Johnny, "but Shinto would never do that!"

"Think of it like this, the angel and devil are two different people living in the same body. An angel was never made to handle the genetics of a Kavan ruler."

Kyo heard enough and ran to stand in between the fight. Johnny reached out his hand, "Kyo, don't! Argh!" He held his broken ribs.

Kyo spread her arms wide and wore an expression of worry and desperation. Inuyasha had a few more cuts to him, "Kyo, you idiot, what are you doing?!" The wolf ignored Inuyasha's question and focused on her friend.

"Shinto, stop; you'll regret it if you do this! I know he betrayed you, but not even you would go as far as to kill him!"

Inuyasha said through gritted teeth. "Kyo move!"

Shinto glared at the wolf demon, never had the angel directed an expression like that towards Kyo.

"Regret it? I absolutely won't; he's a pest that needs to be buried six feet underground." Her glare darkened.

"And if you intend to get in my way, you'll be joining him." A mist-like substance rose from her fingertips; in one swift motion, she raised her arm and swung. The solid power extended and struck like a sword. Inuyasha wrapped one arm around her waist and jumped out of the way. But not before the power pierced his leg and returned to the devil's hand. "Shit!"

"What was that?"

Inuyasha growled. "One of her abilities which has the title Shadow Executor it's, as you've seen, got a shadowy appearance, but it's solid, and it makes either a weapon or restraint."
