The afternoon sky set, and Kyo spotted Koga sitting atop a rock. He often did that while thinking about anything and everything. Some leaves blew away from their stems and flew past Koga.

The wind let him know Kyo was behind him. She said nothing but walked up to him and stood, staring right into his face. Lingering feelings of guilt remained as the bruise spread from his nose to across the skin around.

"Hey."

Koga turned to look at the ground, "hey."

Kyo's fingers curled into a fist, "what did you need to think about?"

His eyes held some emotion she couldn't detect. "Stuff."

"What stuff?"

Koga sighed, "I think that's my business. I don't need to share everything with you."

Kyo bit her lip; she needed to cool her rage from earlier. "I know...we all have our secrets." She slid her eyes from his direction as she said that.

She put a hand to her chest, "Koga...do you-." The wolf found it hard to finish her question.

"Do I what?"

She inhaled and asked. "Do you love Kagome or Ayame?"

Kyo averted her gaze, "....yes."

He scratched his cheek, "I think I get it."

Hope filled her heart along with dread at what his reaction might be.

"You're concerned I might get hurt, but you don't have to worry. I'm a big boy; I can take care of myself." He said with a grin.

Kyo groaned.

"Kyo?"

She stomped her foot, features twisted in a scowl. "Sure you can. You are a big boy. But can't you see Kagome loves Inuyasha?! She doesn't care about you like I do!"

Koga stood level with Kyo, "Why would she love a mutt like him? He's running around with other women."

"So are you!"

"I am not!"

Tears pricked the corner of the wolf girl's eyes; she clutched her clothes. "You so are...I don't know why I fell in love with someone as dense as you!"

Kyo gasped and covered her mouth. Koga became frozen from shock. "Y-you love me?"

"Yes, I do, but you were always oblivious to my feelings."

"But I didn't know!"

"Because you were too busy looking at someone else to notice me. I question why I tried so hard to make you see me."

Koga had no response.

Kyo wanted no part in this conversation anymore. Her retinas burned as she turned to hide the tears threatening to fall, slowly shuffling off to find a spot to be alone.

Koga ran a hand through his black fringe. "I didn't know...
