Til it happens to you

Kyo fell to her knees, hopping on all fours, and she gritted her teeth. Then a voice reached her ears; she looked up in surprise. It was Shinto.

Who was panting heavily, features contorted into one of worry and concern. "Kyo...I heard the yelling, and I came..to see if you were-" the angel didn't even get to finish her sentence as Kyo suddenly barrelled into her.

Hugging her friend tightly and sobs erupted the moment Shinto placed her arms around her best friend. Rubbing her back in a comforting manner.

"Oh, Kyo..."

She then put her hand on the wolf's head, allowing Kyo to sob into her shoulder.

"He knows I like him!"

Shinto couldn't say anything, so she just let her best friend voice out her feelings.

"Why did he have to find out this way?! I want to die!"

"No, you don't, Kyo."

The wolf had Shinto's black top in a death grip between her fingers. "I don't want to lose him...can we even stay friends?"

The angel didn't know Koga well enough to say if they could remain good friends. The last thing Kyo needed right now was false hope.

Shinto let go of Kyo and looked deep into her ocean eyes. "I don't know what will become of you and Koga. But remember this, you have me, and I'll always be here. I am here for you. If Koga cuts you out of his life, he is the dumb one."

Kyo's bottom lip wobbled, and she tackled Shinto into another aggressive hug. Even given the situation, Kyo managed to smile through her tears.

The power of having a true friend.

After the ordeal of blurting out her crush, she and Koga were always surrounded by an awkward air.

Koga barely looked in her direction anymore. As much as Shinto tried her best to comfort Kyo, the girl was engulfed in misery still.

That's when Shinto felt the need to find and confront the boy causing this sadness.

And she did end up finding him, flirting with Kagome. Something of which he'd only recently started doing again.

Shinto punched Koga on the arm; it didn't hurt him; it just got his attention.

"What do you want?" The displeasure in his voice was evident; he was aware of why the angel's face carried a look of anger. "Let's talk. Now."

Inuyasha had carried Kagome off somewhere, which Shinto could care less about. She stuck an accusing finger right in the demon's face.

"You need to sort out your shit with yourself, or I'll blow you into next Tuesday."

He folded his arms across his chest. "As if you could."

She glared at him, "It won't stop me from trying."

"I have no shit to sort; also, mind your own business."

She glared at him, "Kyo opened up about her feelings for you. After that, you have been avoiding her. So fess up! What is the problem?!"

Koga looked away from her as he rubbed his head, it was a complex subject to broach, but she deserved an honest answer, "It's...I..." though he couldn't find it in himself to give one.

Then like a flick of a switch had gone off in her brain. It clicked. The wolf was conflicted. Somewhere he'd grown a form of attraction for Kyo.

He was afraid this would somehow lead to losing Kyo differently, that the change in their relationship would not be for the better.

"You and your male bullshit."

His blue eyes gleamed with rage, "same can be said with your female bullshit with a certain dog demon."

Her hand curled into a fist, but someone wrapped their fingers around her wrist. Kyo.

She held no courage to glance Koga's way; she left with Shinto.

"Come on. Let's go deal with our female bullshit."

Koga tched and stomped back off to his cave.
