Fashionably late

News of Shinto's death had travelled up towards her family about a month after her death. Whenever someone passed in Tallis, the Archangel got a distinctive energy flow through his body.

Balor was aware that Shinto had passed away; he just hadn't cared enough to tell her family. They found out through a slip of the tongue by Balor. "Then you wouldn't know she's dead."

Eon and Sinta's faces fell with shock and disbelief. Eon's voice shook slightly when he spoke, "but... but, how? Why?" His mind struggled to come to terms with it all.

Sinta's expression suddenly turned to anger, "you...you would've gotten a sign that she'd been killed!"

Balor gave a malicious smirk, "oops...must've slipped my mind"  he shrugged nonchalantly.
"You didn't care enough to warn us!"
Sinta's face started getting red in fury, tears forming as she screamed.

Sinta's wings flared from her back as her temper rose, "all because you and the other angels carry a stupid hatred towards her because of her mixed blood!"

Balor stared Sinta down, "that bitch had her chance to redeem herself. But your little gang of saviours stopped her chance AND your family's chance of redemption."

Sinta saw red and was about to attack the Archangel, but her father held her back; she looked at her father, who gave her pleading looks. Tears began flowing down her cheeks, her temper sizzling out.

She tucked in her wings and stormed off to her room; Eon muttered apologies to Balor before quickly following after his daughter.

Sinta plopped on her bed, hearing her father quietly shutting the door behind him as he entered, "Sinta darling..."

Her head shot up as she glared at her dad through tear-stained eyes, "don't even try to comfort me. You've never tried to before, so why start now?"

Her father sighed and walked further into the room, kneeling beside the bed. He held his daughter's shoulder, not knowing what else to say, "I'm sorry."

Sinta grabbed her dad's arm hard, "sorry won't bring my sister back; sorry won't make you a good father!"

Eon's grip on her shoulder weakened; his relationship with his daughters was a poor one. The marriage with Balor proved how much of a coward he was, too busy trying to keep the peace at the cost of his children's happiness.

He couldn't do anything right, "I...I want to make it up to you; I've always wanted to make it up to you and your sister. B-but I was too afraid, afraid of what your mother might do and Balor..."

His voice broke as he let out a heavy sigh, "I failed you both."

Sinta hugged her dad; even if he wasn't great at being a parent Shinto's death affected him too. "I love you, Dad,"
Eon returned her embrace, burying his face into his daughter's hair, "I love you too, Sinta."

"I think we should visit her grave, Dad."

Eon just nodded as he was too choked up to reply correctly.
