Afraid

Raven hadn't moved an inch. She hadn't taken her eyes off of him, nor had she removed her hand from his. Of course she was worried, her boyfriend was lying unconscious in a hospital bed, covered in cuts that looked like a lion had nearly mauled him to death.

He'd been injured on missions before but Raven was always there to heal Damian. This time it was a simple patrol. She hadn't gone with him as she had to take Titus to the vets and the other Titans were all on a mission.

Raven couldn't help the tears from emerging, couldn't help the scared feeling from taking down her walls. She rested her head on his chest and silently cried, careful not to get on any of his cuts. She sat there crying for about 2 minutes until she felt a hand slowly stroke her hair.

As she pulled away her eyes widened and she embraced Her boyfriend in a hugely warm and desperate hug. Damian was alright, he had woken up. Still she couldn't help the tears, mostly tears of joy but she was still afraid.

"Hey Love." Damian said. He felt the tears, he knew that she was sad. More importantly he knew she was scared.

"Hey! Don't ever do something like that again. I thought I might've lost you!" Damian felt immense guilt at her words. Of course he had no idea this would happen on what was usually and average patrol. He could never deny her anything though so he was happy to oblige.

"Don't worry, I won't." As Raven pulled away she kissed him as hard as she could. Damian reciprocated the kiss with the same intensity. Then he saw her puffy red eyes and her saddened expression when they pulled away. "Hey, hey. It's alright I'm here. Shhh. I'll never leave you ok?"

Raven began to cry again. His words were comforting but him just being there was more comforting than anything. She let her head fall to his chest as she crawled in the bed with him. He held on to her tightly as she rested her head in the crook of his neck.

"Promise me... Promise me I'll never lose you."

Damian kissed her head and held her cheek with one hand for a moment. "I promise Raven. Nothing could ever take me away from you."

Raven was comforted once again but she was still afraid. Afraid that one day she wouldn't be there again and he might not survive. She was afraid of losing the one and only person she loves and gave her heart to.

"I love you Damian." Tears still falling down her face but not as much. Damian pulled away to kiss her with all the warmth he could offer as he stroked her cheeks, removing the tears in the process.

"I love you too Raven." He embraced her once again and they stayed there for a good long while. Damian knew he had to do anything for her. He knew he couldn't get hurt like this again. He knew they need each other. Really, they were both afraid.
