Where can I go?

Damian was not in good shape. His shoulder was almost split all the way down. He had at least four broken ribs, a broken wrist and a mild concussion. Despite all of these injuries, he carried on moving through the blizzard that was stirring up.

His communicator was broken. There was no way to repair that, especially in the snow. He had managed to send a vague message to the Titans before it broke. His location was known but within a very large search area. The blizzard made it almost impossible to find him.

He struggled on, almost losing consciousness many times. Where could he go? Who could I turn to? Would he even survive? Those questions weighed on his mind more than the pain in his body.

His thoughts turned to his team. He should've respected Jaime better. Should've been friendlier to Gar and Kori. Should've been a proper brother to Dick. Instead all he did was act like a brat. Even with is improvements in his behaviour he still acted bad.

His mind then turned to Raven. He should've told her. Told her that he was in love with her. That he valued her as more than a teammate, more than a friend. He should've confessed his love to her. He didn't care if it was reciprocated or not, they would always be best friends. He wanted more though. He could no longer deny that.

"Damian!"

He must've been imagining things. He thought he heard Raven's voice. He was just thinking about her though, he felt it natural that he would hear her. He didn't even realise he had fallen to the floor. He must've been losing his mind.

"Damian!"

No. That was real. She was really there? Where? Damian thought how he would get to her. He could no longer move. The cold had set in and his injuries had rendered him immobile.

He had one last idea for her to find him. He was sure it could work.

He did the one thing he never thought he'd do. He lowered his mind's defences that always kept Raven from feeling all his emotions. It was amplified due to their bond after Raven healed him. She couldn't find him unless he let her. Their bond became a string that she now had to follow.

"Ra-ven." Damian muttered quietly. His eyes managing to lock onto her and follow her. He saw that she was now looking over in his direction.

He raised his hand and outstretched it to her. His vision going darker and darker by the second.

A glimmer of hope appeared when he saw that she was running over. His vision returning as his eyes widened. He saw her coming to him. He was saved.

"Damian! Oh my god! Damian!" Raven called out to him. She was desperate for a response as she placed him on her back, managing to carry him away.

They approached a nearby cabin that was abandoned and Raven placed him down to heal him. She would've just teleported them back to the tower, but his injuries were too severe. It would put too much of a strain on his body.

Damian awoke minutes later after falling unconscious. His shoulder wound healed fully. His broken bones not so much.

He noticed Raven sitting above him. She had placed his head on her lap and just stroked his hair. Did best friends do that?

"Raven..." Damian whispered. His voice still hadn't fully recovered from the damage his lungs took in the cold. Fortunately, they were getting better quickly.

"Damian! Are you ok?" Raven asked. She sounded desperate again. He was ok now that she was here.

"Yeah. I'm ok." Damian lied. Truth was that he was in an extreme amount of pain. Seeing her face though, made him forget about it.

"You idiot..." Raven said. She had begun to cry and her tears dripped down onto Damian's face. His guilt was increasing.

"Raven..."

"Why the fuck did you come out here alone?!" Raven shouted. She took his face in her hands as Damian's eyes widened in surprise.

"You just came out here alone! You knew how dangerous it was! Don't you think the team cares?! Well I fucking care!" Raven yelled. Her tears were streaming down her face now.

Damian felt all the guilt hit him at once. It was true, Damian had gone on a seriously dangerous mission alone. He wanted to avoid too much danger for the others and decided to do it all himself. Still, he never thought about what would happen if he died.

"Raven." Damian said. His voice was returning and he could now speak properly. He reached his hand out and took her hand in his. His other hand holding her cheek.

"I'm sorry. I didn't want you to get hurt. I just wanted to spare anyone, spare you from this kind of pain." Damian admitted. Raven seemed to get a little calmer but angrier at the same time.

"I get that. I'm grateful, I really am. But, you let me suffer this pain. The pain of nearly losing my best friend... the one I'm in love with." Raven confessed tearfully.

Damian looked at her, shocked. He began to tear up himself. He imagined what it would've been like if their positions were reversed. The sadness and misery he'd feel. It must've been what Raven felt now.

"I'm in love with you, Raven. I'm... I'm really sorry. I feel so guilty and terrible. I don't deserve you. I just-" Damian was cut off by Raven's lips on his. He was shocked at first but quickly melted into it. He had never taste anything so sweet, nor felt so loved.

"You think I'm going to let you go and avoid this after all this has happened. Whether you deserve me or not is up to me. And I say you do. Just as long as you don't do something like this again." Raven explained to him. She cradled him in her arms and Damian closed his eyes and sighed in contempt. He felt truly happy that he was with her.

"I promise I won't do this again. I'd do anything to be with you. Anything for you." They both smiled and shared another kiss.

They returned to the tower where Damian received a scolding from everyone.

He retired to his bed for a while until his injuries healed. Raven visited him often and laid in bed with him. Sometimes making out, sometimes just talking and cuddling.

Damian felt as if he went through all that pain for her and he would do it over and over if it meant that he was with Raven. He truly felt happy. She was worth anything and everything to him.
