I'm sorry

He couldn't believe he'd let this happen. How had he not seen what was coming? Letting Raven go on this mission alone was easily the biggest mistake he could've made.

Damian ran through the woods, trying to desperately catch up with his best friend. He was so close, he could feel her presence and needed to go to her. He needed to help her.

She had been assigned a mission that involved her heritage. There was a supposed ancient relic that may help Raven's containment of Trigon. It was obvious she just wasn't going to pass that up.

Of course it was dangerous, of course she'd want to go alone, of course he should've gone with her. But, she had become desperate; Trigon was proving to be getting worse and worse all the time. He was constantly tormenting Raven and it hurt her emotionally.

Damian could only watch as she suffered. He wished he could've done something. Take him away, make him stop, anything. He'd do anything for her. He was, after all, in love with her and had been for months now.

As Damian caught up to Raven, he found her surrounded by demons that were quickly disposed of. She was tapping into her darker side, Trigon's side. It was not Raven who was in control there.

"Raven!" Damian shouted. He had to get through to her before Trigon destroyed the relic and her.

"Leave, Brat. While you still have the chance!" Raven, or Trigon, responded. Her eyes had multiplied to four and her skin was a deep red. The amethyst in her eyes replaced with a fiery yellow.

"Come on, Raven! Fight him! I know you can do it! You're so close to shutting him up!" Damian pleaded.

"Foolish child, Raven can't beat me! She belongs to me and soon so will your planet!" Trigon exclaimed.

Damian began taking cautious steps forward. He didn't want to be attacked by Trigon or he was surely dead. "Raven, please. Do it for the world, for the team, our friends..." Raven began to almost spasm in and out of control while Trigon yelled at her to stop. "...Do it for me."

"Fool! None of you truly loved her, why would she come back?!" Trigon protested.

Damian looked serious and looked into Raven's eyes as if to speak directly to her. "She is loved. The others are like siblings to her. But, Raven, I don't like you like that..." Damian took a deep breath. "...Because I love you, I love you as more than a friend or sibling. I am really in love with you."

Trigon screamed before Raven collapsed into Damian's arms. He caught her gracefully. She was back to her normal appearance, her normal self. She was unconscious and probably wouldn't wake up for a while. So while he was there, Damian retrieved the artefact. He decided to stay in the woods for a while, for peace and quiet.

Raven began to stir awake and Damian quickly rushed over to her. She noticed he had the item she was looking for and she quickly used it. Damian was happy to see her alright and that Trigon had been silenced.

"Are you sure you're ok?" Damian asked her, still worried.

"Mhm." Raven simply nodded.

As Damian appeared to be leaving, Raven grabbed his arm and forced him to look at her. What he saw was Raven with her head down and a heavy blush on her face. Cute, was all Damian thought. Until he thought more seriously.

"Did you mean it?" Raven asked shyly.

Damian instantly understood what she meant. He nodded and placed her hand on his chest, over his heart which was rapidly beating. "Yes I did."

Raven looked up with tears in her eyes and appeared to be breathing heavily. "I'm sorry. I love you too, I'm in love with you as well. But I don't be with you." Raven confessed sadly.

"Why?" Damian asked. He was still pretty calm.

"If my father regains power he could kill you. I'm not going to risk that." Raven explained.

"We'll make sure he doesn't... You don't want this?" Damian asked squeezing her hand gently.

"You know I do. More than anything I have before. But it's a risk, a big one."

"I know. Most of what we do are risks though. Im willing to take this risk if it means I can be with you." Damian lovingly confessed.

Raven looked stunned and abruptly kissed Damian, catching him off guard in the process. He leaned in though and held her waist as she stroked his cheek.

"Damian... thank you. I'm sorry I really wanna be with you and... if you're sure, I'll take the same risk. For you." Raven said.

"I've never been so sure." Damian said as he took her hand.

"Ok... My Love." Raven stated with a smile on her face.

"Thank you... Beloved."
