Chapter 20

We walked a little ways to get to the wing we were looking for. Inside there were tons of beautiful pictures. Pictures of things like the Giant Pyramids, Roman building, Mayan houses and other large ancient structures. Next to each bright picture was facts and information about the building. It would say how big something was, what it was made of, the years it was built and other things.

Ms.Carter, Kagami and I wondered around, reading bits and pieces. Kagami tried to seem interested but I knew he wasn't. He was drifting off to sleep in boredom as he leaned on my shoulder. He toppled slightly and I gave him a peck on the cheek. That woke him up a little bit. He smiled at me and said "Wanna ditch this part and go got some food." I nudged him in the stomach again. "Ow! Why do you keep doing that?" I stuck my tongue out at him "Bakagami, we can't just leave Ms.Carter." He huffed back "Watch me."

Me moved his hands from my shoulder to my waist and tried to drag me out. "Kagami!" I punched his arm until he let me go. "Wwwwwhat." His voice cracked as he said that so I giggled. But then I put my serious face back on "I'm sorry this doesn't interest you but could you do it for meeeee~ pwease?" I batted my eye lashes which made him blush. "Ugh fine." "Yay!" I squealed and held his hand.

Other people stared at us as I held Kagami's hand and laughed. It made me feel uncomfortable so I stopped.
"Oh boy not this again." He sighed. "Listen I told you, I don't give a shit about what others think."
"I know you don't but it's hard for me. I don't like the feeling of being judged..." My head sank low. I wasn't looking up at Kagami but I could still feel his presence. Then I felt something grab the back of my shoulders and hamstrings. I was whisked into the air and held bridal style by Kagami.

My face flushed a bright red. "K-kagami? What are you doing?"

Kagami perspective~
Oh Nova, why did you have to be so cute.
I held her in my arms in the museum. More people stared at us as she started flailing in my arms. I kissed her mouth to shut her up for a damn second. It worked. Her face turned an even darker shade of red.
Girls and boys from our school had made their way into that exhibit. They saw me holding Nova and they all gasped. She saw all of them starring at us so she nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck.
The students started to mumble to each other.
"What is Kagami doing?" "Is he dating her?" "Damn it, I can't date him after he's touched THAT." "I didn't think he was into mentally challenged, ugly girls."
Nova started to shake in my arms at their comments.
Once again I had fucked up. I tried to do something romantic and kind, but it turned out hurting her.

Just when I thought everything was going to collapse around us I heard my saving grace. Ms.Carter.
"I'm sorry students is there a problem?" She had an evil aura glowing around her as she stared the students down. "N-no Ms.C-Carter. No problems h-here. Heh..." And with that they all scrammed. I mean I would too if Ms.Carter gave me a death stare.

She turned around and smiled at me. She came over and patted Nova's head. "They're gone." She whispered in her ear. I slowly put Nova down. "N-Nova I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to turn out like that." I hugged her tightly and let her cry in my embrace.

"Kagami?" Ms.Carter spoke up. "Yes." "Do you mind if I speak with Nova for a little while." "Um as long as she's ok with it." I looked at the crying Nova. "Hey," I tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear "you wanna go walk around with Ms.Carter for a little bit?" She slowly spoke while trying to hold back more tears. "B-but I th-thought you w-wanted to walk with m-me?" "I do babe, but I think you should go talk with her." She nodded and I gave her a kiss.

"Ok sweetie come on." Ms.Carter called. I gently pushed Nova in her direction and mouthed 'I'll be fine.'
Then she was off and I was walking around all alone. Yet, I didn't feel alone at all. It felt like Nova was still with me. Maybe that's what it feels like to really be in love?
