Y/n stood nervously in front of her boss's desk, hands folded over each other in attempt to stop them from shaking. She flinched when her boss spoke. "I called you here so that I can make you an offer." An offer? What did that mean? "I'm sure you dislike the fact that I had to dock your pay right? Well, you really left me no choice. This is a serious business miss L/n, if I let my employees leave whenever they wished, this place would be left in shambles!" He says sternly. "Now, I don't want to pry into the private lives of my employees, so I won't ask you why you left when you did. But you will need to start working harder, and to gain that pay loss of yours back, I can give you overtime. It will double your pay, and you can work overtime as long as you wish."
"If you do it for a week, then I'll restore your pay. But if you want to make a little more, you can worker longer than that. Sound like a fair deal?" He asks. Well, it wasn't like she had anything better to do in her free time, besides, a little extra money could do her some good. "Yes sir." She nods. "I'll make sure to show up on time and work twice as hard as before. A mistake like that wont happen again."
"That's what I like to hear, you'll start tonight. That will be all." He dismissed her. Y/n bows her head before exiting the office. "Well...I'll be working my ass to the bone for the next week. Maybe I'll get more information on that bozo of a villain while I'm at it."
And she did just that, she stayed at work that night when most had already went home for the night. She got some extra work done as well as reading up on the new villain popping around. But to her dismay, she couldn't find anything she hadn't already read before, aside from their most recent attack later that evening. Even then, it wasn't anything she was looking for. In all honesty, she probably wouldn't find what she really wanted, unless she spoke with the villain directly, and she knew that was not an option.
And so, she was right back down to square one. With a long tired yawn, she shut off her computer and gathered her things. She had stayed long enough, and she was ready to go back home. She was too tired to worry about late it would be out while walking home, at this point, she dared someone to try some shit like before so she could beat the hell out of them. It would relieve some tension that's been building up for the past few days. Luckily for her, and potential attackers, she made it home without any trouble.
She set her stuff aside before walking back to her bedroom. It stilled smelled of smoke.
"I really wish he didn't smoke in my room as much as he did." Y/n murmurs. Though the stench would be horrible to others, to her, it only reminded her of the nights she would spend with Dabi. As much as she wanted to forget about him, even if for a moment, she couldn't. There were so many things that reminded her of him. To the smell of smoke to the feint hickies on her soft skin that Dabi had left behind. If the nights felt lonely without him before, it was downright unbearable now. A thought suddenly came across her mind. She sighed out a breath before reaching for her phone.
Hesitantly, she opened her texts and felt a slight stab of disappointment when she found no new messages from Dabi. Her brows furrowed as she set her phone down again. "That's fine. What would I even say to him anyway?" She makes her way to her bathroom and removes her clothes before turning on the shower. "And it's not like he would have anything to say to me either..."
Meanwhile, Dabi resided in the League of Villains hideout in his own room. Despite being a run down place, it had it's own separate room for each of the members. Dabi's room wasn't anything to awe at, it was just as shitty as the place itself. The wallpaper of the room was half torn down, reveling the brick wall behind. The air conditioner didn't work for shit so it was either freezing cold or boiling hot. Not to mention the creaky floors and uncomfortable bed, if you can even call it a bed. But he supposed it was better than sleeping on the streets.
Sleep would not come to Dabi, and not just because of the old dusty mattress he laid on. Thought's of Y/n ran wild in his mind, anytime he would close his eyes, she would appear. His tired electric blue eyes opened again, his thoughts were so loud it was deafening. Was she ok? Where was she right now? And worst of all...had she moved on? It was a selfish thought to have. She wasn't his, she was never his. She had all the right in the world to move on to someone new. Even though it pained him right down to his core, she would never be his. Not really. Not unless he could be entirely truthful with her...and he just couldn't.
"Even if I told her...it wouldn't change a thing..." Dabi said aloud to no one but himself. And it wouldn't. Even if he told her what he's been wanting to this entire time, he would still be Dabi. A villain. A wanted criminal. He could never give her the life she deserved. This was the curse he had to carry with him, he carried that weight from the very beginning, and would do so for the rest of his life.
He would do it all over again too...just to keep her safe...
