Dabi staggered back as Hawks' fist collided with his face once again. After hearing about what happened to Y/n, his anger took over, and now here he was, beating Dabi within an inch of his life. "How did this happen!?" Hawks yelled as he punched him again. Dabi met him with a monotoned response. " I was dying. That's how." And he still was, if Hawks kept going like this. "I'm not talking about that!"

"Then what?" Dabi panted, wiping his bloodied nose. "How did someone like Y/n, become so attached to someone like you!?" Dabi didn't meet Hawks' stare. "I see you took quite a liking to her in my absence." Hawks growled before punching him again, harder than the last, nearly toppling Dabi to the ground. "You know I'm gonna die of blood loss if you keep-"

"Do you have any idea of how much she loves you!?"

Dabi finally looked at Hawks with a shocked expression. "Do you, even love her at all?" His shock, turned quickly to anger. "Yeah, I do actually." Hawks laughed crudely. "No the fuck you don't! If you really loved her, you wouldn't have treated her like you did!" Hawks continued. "She told me herself how much she cared about you. You should have seen how hurt she was when she admitted it. She knows you're a shit person, and yet she still loves you. I can't possibly understand why...but Y/n she's...she means so much to me. And I refuse to see her hurt anymore over the likes of you! She came all this way, risked her life for you, and you don't even looked bothered!"

"You don't know a thing about how I feel!" Dabi snapped. "I loved her! I've always loved her! From the very first day I met her, I knew I had finally found someone who could see past my scars and love me for who I really am!" Dabi fell to his knees. "I swore to protect her, and I ended up hurting her. All because, I was too afraid to let her know, what my life had became. I'm not the same person that I was, I thought if she knew that...she would have left me. But even after I told her...she said she still loved me..." He continued.

"When she broke all ties with me...When I watched Hakai take her away...I felt something within me that I thought died a long time ago...pain. It hurt so bad, that I thought I might actually had been dying. So don't you dare pretend to know how I feel."

Then came a heavy silence between the two men.

Hawks approached Dabi, who kept his empty gaze steady on the dirt ground. He didn't flinch as Hawks stepped in front of him. However, he didn't expect Hawks to lower his hand, held out for Dabi to take. He looked up at Hawks, confused. "If you really love her that much...then do one good thing in your life...and help me save her.." Hawks spoke calmly, not a trace of trickery in his eyes. Dabi never thought he'd live to see the day where he actually considered helping a hero.

A hero he didn't particularly favor at that, but Y/n was far more important this his petty rivalry with the feathered hero. And so, he put his pride aside, and took Hawks' hand.

"Don't think this is a permanent truce." Hawks started. "As soon as we save Y/n, you'll go right back to being a villain. Understand?" Dabi's grip on Hawks' hand became tighter. "No shit. When Y/n's safe, I'm gonna be on your ass like flies on shit."

"Then we're agreed. Now lets go save Y/n..."

Before they could go with the plan to save Y/n, Hawks had to see that Dabi was treated somehow. So Hawks had taken him back so his wounds could be properly treated. Hawks paid off some random, a bit shady, doctor a hefty amount to keep quiet about the whole ordeal, to which the doctor gladly accepted. "I knew you were a shitty hero." Dabi muttered. "Just shut up and get your ass in there." Hawks sighed heavily.

Once his wound had been sewed up, they were out and on their way. "Doc back there told me your wounds weren't entirely serious. So how come you looked like you were dying of blood loss back there?" Hawks asked, eyeing Dabi's blood stained shirt. "I was." Dabi muttered. "Y/n...she healed me with her quirk." Hawks stopped dead in hi tracks. "Quirk? What quirk? Y/n doesn't have a quirk."

"Well now she does. Don't ask me how, cause I couldn't tell ya if I really wanted to." Dabi put his hand over where the gaping wound use to be. "All I remember is that I felt warm, and before I knew it, I was fine. Well, mostly. Then I heard Hakai talking about her healing him, and you know the rest, he took her." Dabi explained.

Hawks could hardly believe it, but why else would Hakai want Y/n? If he wanted to kill her, he could have easily just done it right then and there. "Y/n has a quirk...wow. Sure is a late bloomer." Dabi repressed a smile as he spoke. "She had always been a bit special like that, this isn't anything too shocking to me. Of course her quirk would have something to do with helping others."

Hawks glances at him. "Just how long have you known Y/n?" He asked. "Long enough. Look. Just because we're saving her together, doesn't mean we have to be all buddy-buddy." Hawks rolled his eyes. "Sure."
