Y/n panted as she ran, she memorized the location before looking down at her phone and dialing Hawks' number. "He can't be dead. He just can't be!" She held the phone up to her ear. After a few rings Hawks answered. "Keigo! I know where Hakai is!"
"Y/n? What are you talking about?"
"Hakai called me through Dabi, he sent his location!" She explained as she entered a heavily forested area. "He's in Yukimura City as we speak!"
"Y/n!? Are you there right now!?"
"I'm on the way! Don't try and talk me out of it Keigo! Dabi could be dead!"
"Is that seriously what you're concerned about right now!? You'll be dead if you don't turn back right now!"
"No, not until I know Dabi's safe!"
"...You would choose his life over your own? Why!? After everything he's done to you!?"
"I don't have time to explain myself right now Keigo! You're a hero aren't you? Think of the people who will be killed if you don't come here right now!"
She was met with silence on the other end. "Keigo, Dabi might be one of the worst people I've ever met. He's a murderous villain. And pretty much irredeemable from your view. I understand that. But damn it Keigo, if you could see just how much he was really hurting deep down...you might have a little more sympathy towards him." At this point she was pretty much saying this to herself.
"I don't know how to explain it but, there is something more to Dabi that he's been hiding. Maybe it's what he's been wanting to tell me. But I'll never know until I hear it from him. And if I'm wrong, then you can do what need to. You can lock him away, as well as me for trying to save a villain. I don't care. But please...as your friend I'm begging you...please help me."
After another silent moment, Hawks finally spoke.
"Fine...I'll help you Y/n. I'm on my way."
Y/n smiled. "Thank you Hawks. I'll wait for you to show up before I go any further."
"You better."With that, Y/n hung up. Just ahead of her was the old destroyed city. She went to take another step, but stopped when she heard voices. She gasped and hid behind one of the taller trees and listened.
"But we have to go back!" It was a girls voice. "Dabi could need our help!" Y/n's breath hitched. She knew Dabi? Was she part of the league? "We can't. Hakai is still there and we are in no condition to fight him again. You forget you nearly died?" Asked a raspy voice.
"Yes, and I would have if Dabi didn't save me! We need to go back for him!" The girl argued, she sounded like she was about t cry. "Toga." Said another male voice. "I hate to break it to you but...he might be dead. Dead for sure! Shut it, that's not helping! You shut it!" Was...was he arguing with himself?
"No! Dabi isn't dead! He's strong!" The girl yelled. "Toga, I was there. No body could have survived that cave in. Either the fall killed him, or Hakai got to him first." It went dead silent after that.
"Dabi..." The girl sniffled. "Lets go. We'll have our revenge eventually. Hakai's gone too far this time, insulting me and this league was one thing...but he killed one of our comrades he'll pay dearly for that..."
Y/n didn't come out until she was sure all of them were gone. She had no choice but to agree with that Toga girl. She didn't believe Dabi was dead. Not for a second. "Sorry Keigo..." She muttered as she ran ahead towards the city.
Y/n made it to the city, though already destroyed, there was a clear sign of a battle. "A cave in." That was what she was looking looking for. After nearly an hour of looking, she found a large opening in the ground.
"That must be it!" She said as she looked for the best way to get in without plummeting to her death. "Guess I'm climbing down." She carefully stepped down a loose gathering of soil and rock. Every step she took, made her feel like the ground below her would send her straight down, she'd slipped a few times making her heart beat out of her chest. The deeper she went, the darker it got. She ignored any feeling of nervousness, she couldn't turn back now. She would not leave here without Dabi.
What felt like an eternity had finally come to pass, she had made it down to the bottom. "Dabi!" She called out. "Dabi! Are you down here!? Dabi!" She walked, hands out in front of her, keeping her from running into anything. "Dabi!" She called out once again.
"...Y-Y/n?"
She gasped and ran towards his voice that called back. "Dabi!" She squinted her eyes, and before her, laid Dabi. But...it was not a happy sight to see...Dabi laid against the wall, the pipe that had stabbed into him before was still in place. His white shirt stained red wit his blood around the crude pipe that stuck out.
"Dabi!" Y/n cried as she hurried to his side. "Oh god..." She brought her hand to her mouth, trying not to be sick. "Damn...you just don't listen to anyone...do you?" Dabi muttered, his voice low and raspy. "Sorry you had...to see me like this..." He breathed heavily. "I broke my promise...Y/n..."
Y/n shook her head, moving closer to him. "No. No Dabi, you didn't break any promises." She sniffled, gently placing her hand on his cheek. Turning his head to face her, his once electric blue eyes, now dull and near lifeless. His warmth, fading quickly. Dabi smiled weakly. "But I did...I broke our very first promise...we ever made..." Y/n looked at him confused. "What do you mean?" She asks.
Dabi closed his eyes, thinking back fondly on his memories. Memories of when he was young, memories of when he first met someone who truly loved him, memories of the tree he was under when he first confessed his love for that person. 'That person...was you, Y/n' Dabi thought before opening his eyes again as he spoke.
"Just promise me, that you won't die."
Y/n's eyes went wide with shock. Did she hear him correctly? Did he just say the same promise that she had made to...
"H-How do you know about that?" Her voice shook. Dabi reached his hand up, Y/n met him half way and held it with both of her hands. "I'm sorry...I should have told you sooner...way sooner... Y/n felt more tears run down her face. "Tell me...what?"
"My name..." Dabi hesitated. "My real name...is Todoroki Touya..."
