Kj pov;
People started to show up as me and Luke finished up outside. the first one to show up was Kolbs best friend Hunter he's over a lot he's like another little brother to me! "Hey Hunt!" I called out waving to him and his mom "hey Kenli!" He said running towards the house to get Kolbi. "hello mrs. Tallinn" I said smiled before walking in the back door with Luke on my tail. "LUKE!!!" Kolbi called out running to meet him with Hunter running behind him "Kolbi!!! Luke said laughing hugging him "you came for my party?" He asked "of course bud!" Luke said putting him down "Kenli? Luke?" Momma called out "yes momma?" We both said walking towards the kitchen and Kolb and Hunter ran outside. "Yall I forgot to pick up the cake at Jennies!" She said looking stressed "momma don't worry we'll go get it right now!" Luke said grabbing my hand and walking us out the door. We took his truck blaring hank Williams as we sped off out of the driveway, I was laughing and Luke knew I loved every minute of it. We pulled into Jennies driveway and both got out and walked to the door "Kenli!! How are you I haven't seen you in ages!" She called out from the screen door "im doin just fine!" I called out as she unlocked the screen door and let us in "hello Luke! I didn't see you back there" she said giving us each a hug "momma sent us to get Kolbi's cake" I said laughing "its right in here ready to go!" she said leading us in the kitchen and grabbed it out of the cabinet thing she had. "Thank you!" Luke said grabbing it and taking it to the truck "I hate to leave so soon but we gotta go Kobli's party already started!" I said hugging her telling her Goodbye and meeting Luke in the truck. We drove back home and I held the cake once we pulled up Luke came around and opened my door and grabbed the cake cause knowing me I would've dropped it or something. Luke went ahead of me to get the cake in and to check the burgers as I was walking up the stairs I slipped and fell I heard my ankle Pop as it rolled "Lu.. Luke!!" I hollered hoping he would hear me cause I couldn't get up and my ankle was the size of a apple by now. "Yeah?" He said looking out the door not seeing me "I.. I.. HELP!" I cried out. "What's wrong?" He asked as he flung down the stairs "I rolled my ankle" I cried out in pain this time he picked me up carefully and took me inside "momma we need some ice!" He called out as he laid me on the couch "I'll be right back stay here!" He said and kissed my head. Momma soon ran in the living room "honey what did you do!" She said with a worried look on her face. "I just rolled my ankle I think I'll be okay" I said with a faint smile "babygirl! Look at your foot!! It HUGE!" She said with a gasp "I think you need to go to the hospital! That's bigger than the average sprain honey!" She said looking at me "but Kolbs birthday!" I whined "honey itll be fine! I'm gonna go get Luke" she said walking off and a few moments later Luke came in with a bag of ice and a towel "im gonna go set this in the truck and I'll be back to get you!" He said running out the door he soon returned and came to pick me up. "farm work pays off Huh?" I said with a little laugh and he looked at me "I suppose so" he said with a slight smirk and a wink. he sat me down lightly Into the truck and walked around his side and got me situated with the ice before we drove to the hospital.
Luke pov;
•hours later•
Kj finally gets to go home now it's about 11:45pm. The hospital was booked so it took forever to get her checked in and such. Kj fell asleep in the hospital bed waiting to be released, she finally look peaceful and relaxed. I smiled at her as the nurse came in to give us her release form papers. "Will someone be with her at all times?" the nurse asked in a whisper tone "if there needs to be Someone with her at all times then I can be there" I replied softly. "For the next day or two there needs to be someone with her. She came very close to breaking her foot, if she's in more pain then usual bring her back in and we'll look farther into it." She spoke softly again not wanting to wake her up. "Yes ma'am I'll make sure she's fine. Thank you" i spoke as she was walking out "Yall are free to go at any time now" she said before closing the curtain. I stood up for the chair I was sitting in and gently picked Kj up and carried her out of the room out to the truck she kinda woke up. "Where am I?" She suddenly spoke. "Shh hey we're leaving the hospital" I said softly "hospital?!" She spoke and looked down and her wrapped foot "yes remember? I had them rap it in blue cause I know it was your favorite" I said an chuckled "oh yeah" she whispered laying her head on the window drifting back to sleep. We pulled up to the house and the living room light was still on so I figured momma was still
Up waiting on us. I put the truck in park an went around the truck and slowly got Kj out she was sound asleep I kissed the top of her head before we walked in the front door momma was asleep on the couch I chuckled a little as I walked up the stairs to lay Kj down in her bed she kinda shifted into a ball so I knew she was cold so I covered her up before going downstairs to wake momma up. "Momma" I whispered shaking her gently "Huh!" she said springing awake fast which made me laugh. "We're home! Kj's in bed. Im gonna crash here also. Go on up to bed I got everything covered with her I know you have to work early" I spoke with a smile "thank you Luke!" She said getting up and hugging me "not a problem! She means the world to me" I said hugging her back before she went up to bed. I went and got me and Kj a bottle of water I walked back to her room set the water down on her night stand. I grabbed a pillow and a blanket and made a pallet on the floor "goodnight Kj I love you" I whispered and kissed her cheek before laying down on the floor.
