Chapter 20

Months later

Me and Luke moved into our new apartment about a two weeks ago, it's right outside of Leesburg, a little house turned into duplexes.. Our neighbors are college girls of coarse.. It's about a 30 to 45 minute drive to the college so they're hardly ever home except for late at night..

Luke's been working with his dad and the local hardware store more and more and doing side gigs on the weekend. His names getting out there more and more and he's started posting YouTube videos, before long my small town honey is gonna be a big star..

I picked up a shift at a diner down the road from us working nights and a day care job during the day.. You could say me and Luke have grown up and got our things in order to live on our own.

I start college courses next semester not sure what all I'm gonna take and what not, of coarse Luke don't like the idea but he's a big boy and he'll get over it..

"Baby where is my hat?" Luke called from the bedroom.

I walked down the hall to the look and he was looking under the bed, jeans on and boots on, shirt unbuttoned and looking for his hat.. I walked to the bathroom and it was sitting on the shelf.

"Here" I said

He came up behind me and smiled.

I must say his extra shifts at the farm and hardware store have caused his body to shape up.. He looks sexier than ever. I bit my lip and looked up at him. He leaned down and missed me pulling me into his chest.

"Mm baby I'd love to stay but I gotta go before I'm late to work" he growled and hugged me once more before turning to walk it the door.

I needed to get ready for work myself, got a few new kids coming in for the summer and I need to be there early to open the doors and get the paper work sorted.. I got in the shower, washed my hair and got ready for work. Jeans, a basic tshirt, pony tale and my boots.. My apron and black shoes were already in my truck for my shift change tonight.
Luke would be getting home around 10:30 and I should be back around 11..

Luke

The day was long and hot on the farm, I mowed the pasture and had to dig some new post holes. When the sun goes down I go to the local hardware store and help restock and load trucks to take things to other stores. I get a good days work in that's for sure, never been so tired in my life..

It was 10 when I rolled out of the parking lot of the hardware store to go home. I stopped on the way home and got Chinese to go for me and Kj both. I pulled up in the driveway and carried my lunch bag in and the food. I put the food in the microwave to keep warm, I emptied my lunch bag and all the trash and then went and made my way to the shower. I was all greasy and sweaty and smelt horrible.. I took my shirt off and started the shower water and was unbuckling my belt and jeans when the door bell rang. "Great" I mumbled walking to the door.

"Hello?" It's was our college neighbors next door

"Hi um our sink is spraying water and it's to late to call anyone could you um help us?" The blonde said.

"Yeah sure" I said closing the door and walking over to their apartment.

I walked in and there were a few girls sitting around and there was another dirty blonde trying to cover the water spraying out.. Her Tshirt was soaked and stickingm to her.. I gulped and turned my eyes back to the water faucet.

I was able to turn the valve tight enough with my hand to stop it from spraying everywhere.. Then I ran back to our apartment and grabbed a wrench and a clamp. I walked back in the apartment and the one blonde that was wet had changed and was standing by the sink again, I smiled and climbed down under the sink to tighten and clamp it.

"That should do" I said smiling

"Thank you so much! Please stay and let us fix you a drink or something" she said reaching her hand out to touch me arm.

I got off a few minutes early tonight and was able to go home sooner, I was excited to be able to have a relaxing night with Luke since we both didn't have to work until tomorrow night.

I pulled up and Lukes truck was in the driveway, the kitchen light was on and I figured he was in the shower. I opened the front door and the tv was on and the shower was running like I suspected.. I went and got a change of clothes and figured I would join Luke in the shower. I took a deep breath before I opened the bathroom door..

Only to find the bathroom empty.

"Luke?" I hollered

No response

I checked the bedroom again and he wasn't there, the living room was empty and the kitchen was too.. His keys and phone were on the counter like always and his hat hanging on the chair.. Our food was in the microwave and he was no were in sight.

"Luke baby?" I hollered again

Still nothing

Maybe he went for a run or something.. He's done that a few times just to help him relax so he says but truthfully I think it's so he stays in shape cause he knows how much I love his body right now..

I shrugged it off but thought it was weird that he didn't even text me.. And left the shower on.. I walked back to the bathroom and decided to take a shower before the water got cold.. I managed to wash my hair and be done with my sheer by the time he walked in the door..

I had just heated up my food and it was nearly midnight now and I had just turned on the tv and sat down to eat when he walked in..

"Luke where have you been?" I questioned getting up

"I.. I'm fine" he said quickly and ran to the bathroom.

I heard the shower water turn on again so I sat down to eat again. Maybe he just had a bad day at work and was in a bad mood.. I finished my food and was in the kitchen doing the dishes and warming his up when he came thru the kitchen door..

The smell of his cologne and freshly brushed teeth came through the air.. I turned around and looked at him. No shirt and sweat pants.. Hair dripping wet and he wasn't looking.

"Where you go?" I questioned

"Next door the girls over there had a sink leak and it needed tightening" he said with his back to me.

"You were there for a few hours" I stated

"I know I'm sorry they offered me a drink and I lost track of time" he mumbled

He grabbed his food and a beer and walked to the living room to sit on the couch and eat. I sighed and grabbed myself a water and followed him. I didn't know what to say or do.. He was there for a few hours which makes no sense to me..

"So did you get it fixed for them?" I questioned

"Yeah" he said with a mouth full.

Attractive Luke I thought to myself.

"What were they like?"

"Does it matter" he questioned looking back at me.

"I guess not I just don't understand why you'd be there for a few hours Luke"

"I said I lost track of time"

He snapped getting up from the couch and going back to the kitchen.
I followed him.

"Well you left the shower running and apparently spending time with me tonight on our only day shift off tomorrow wasn't as important as having drinks with the college sluts next door" I hollered On the verge of tears.

I turned around and walked out before he could say anything. I went and laid in bed and cried myself to sleep.. Luke didn't bother to follow and all I could think about was what really happened tonight..
