Rumors started everywhere.

“I heard she slept with professor in her last school, so they kicked her out.”

“I heard she is an orphan, so she moved here with her cousins.”

“I heard she had a fight with some girl so they expelled her.”

“I heard she kissed a girl once and the school kicked her out.”

“Well, that explains why she doesn’t love us, men.”

“I heard she is a whore. So it’s not that surprising that she walked naked in the school in front of everywhere.”

“I heard that…I saw that” rumors about Eda were everywhere, not that she cared anyway.

Eda hated people.
She hated the fact that every day, people can choose to be kind, to make someone’s day better, and they still choose the other option.
They would rather be cruel, to mock someone for no reason, to push someone to tears without a single care in the world.

So, she didn’t mind the comments or looks people threw her at school, just because she was used to it.

She finds it fascinating how people didn’t know shit about her, and they still spread lies about her, just to make it interesting, to make them feel better about themselves.

So, she let them. She just needs to survive this last year and she would never see any of these ugly faces anymore.

But that is not the only thing that confused her.

Over the next few days, she often met his gazes.

The boy with beautiful and mysterious eyes.

There was no mockery or rudeness or ugliness in his eyes. Just pure curiosity.

She felt like he wanted to approach here, but didn’t know how.

And the strange thing was, she didn’t mind it at all.

Eda was eating lunch in the school library, just because she liked the silence, and the fact that people avoided library like a plague didn’t hurt at all.

She was in the middle of her favorite book of all time, the book she read thousands of times, Pride and Prejudice, when she felt the presence of another person in the room. She heard the squealing noise of chair belling pulled out and the person sat at it.

Silence appeared once again, but Eda was irritated that the person interrupted her peace, and now she was no longer alone.

She decided to glance at him with a death gaze, hoping it would drive away the interrupter and she was surprised when she saw the boy whom spent days looking at her, and maybe even the boy she spent days looking at him.

He was reading a book, she didn’t see which one, but she could see a hint of a smile on his face when he noticed her look.

His handsome face. Handsome, smooth face, with a hint of a beard coming out.

Eda carefully explored every inch of his face, not realizing she was caught at staring at him.

“Can you please stop staring at me. I can’t concentrate on a book” she saw his mouth moving, but only registered his words five seconds later.

She met his smug gaze and quickly removed her gaze, blushing embarrassingly.

She pretended to read her book, and decided to try to save her pride and dignity.
