New mini-series AU.
Eda and Serkan married in episode 28. Set years after it.
Eda left the white-blue building, feeling everything, when her phone buzzed in the pocket of her white coat.
She saw name of her husband on the screen and she smiled the way every loved woman smile, the way every woman should smile.
“Aşkim”, Eda answered and walked towards her car.
“Where are you baby? You left very lonely man in your bed this morning”, Serkan said in his deep, raspy morning voice that Eda loved so much.
She knew his voice, every high and low tone, husky or raspy voice, everything.
Few years of marital bliss would do that to woman.
She knew and loved everything about her husband.
Eda rolled her eyes. “You can’t be without me for a couple of hours?”, she teased, while holding her keys and something else in her other hand.
“What can I say, karicim. You turned me into a very dependent and needy man…”
Eda laughed and entered her laugh. “Allah, Alllah! Well I must hurry now. Can’t leave my baby starving. I am in the car right now, I will be at home in an hour.”
“Tamam, drive safe. I love you, Eda.”
“I love you more, Serkan. See you at home.” Eda smiled and ended the call, before he could say he loved her the most.
Eda didn’t know when they turned in this cheesy couple, but she loved every single second of it, and she couldn’t wait to spent the rest of her life with him.
She sighed in content and placed the photos on passenger seat. After fastening her seat belt, Eda started her car and went to the driveway. Her impatience to see her husband was raising every second now.
She always teased him for it, but the truth is, Eda also couldn’t spend two hours without him.
Eda was crazy about him and he was crazy about her. Her marriage was almost like a dream.
Of course, they had their quarrels and spats, but they didn’t last long because they had communication. It was something they both worked so hard since the wedding day.
It didn’t hurt that they also worked together
She had everything she ever wanted.
While driving, she turned to give a quick look on the photos on the seat.
Her heart started to beat rapidly again and she smiled a big toothy smile.
It was the last thing Eda ever did.
She focused on the road again, but she was too late to see a truck that was coming from her left side at an abnormal speed.
She turned hastily to the right but it was too late.
The truck hit her car, and she whispered a tiny ‘Serkan’ while her car rolled over multiple times before finally stopping.
The car was upside down, blood was dripping from her body and her head.
Blurry picture of Serkan and their baby was the last thing Eda saw before she closed her eyes for the last time and her heart stopped beating.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆Grey clouds were all around Istanbul’s sky, like a bad omen for the next horrible hours, days, weeks, months, years….
It was the first thing Eda saw as she slowly opened her eyes.
She blinked couple of times, in a confused state, wondering why she was laying on the ground; until it hit her.
There was an accident…She remembered the pain she felt after the car stopped rolling and the blurry image of Serkan and their baby.
She didn’t feel that pain anymore.
Why couldn’t she feel the pain? Eda started to panic as the question placed a deep fear in her heart.
Her still beating heart?!
Eda was still looking at the sky, trying to calm herself, and she slowly placed her hand on her heart, expecting to feel the steady beats.
One second…Two seconds…Three seconds…
Nothing. There was absolutely nothing there.
Eda dropped a fearful breath, her whole body shivering from the cold she couldn’t feel.
One, two, three….Eda raised her hand to see it perfectly clear. No blood, no bruises, no nothing. Just her normal pale hand, and in that moment, Eda hated her perfect hand.
There were no heartbeats, there was no blood….
Her attention moved to the blue and red lights that circled around the whole place.
She carefully got up from her position, and froze in shock.
Hundreds and hundreds of pieces of car and truck were scattered all around the place. Firemen, policemen and people from emergency service were all over the place of accident.
She took a careful step towards them when one of the firemen passed quickly next to her, hitting her arm.
“Hey!”, Eda exclaimed, but he didn’t hear her. Nobody did, actually.
“Can you see me?”, Eda asked one of the guys that were placing a police tap, but he never answered her.
He continued to work his job, not knowing that one scared woman was yelling next to him.
Eda went from person to person, screaming, yelling, begging, but it was all for nothing.
Nobody saw her. Because she wasn’t there.
She was surrounded by everyone. But she wasn’t there.
Or was she?
Eda was looking all around her, panicking, not knowing what to do, where to go, until something caught her eye.
Something on the ground, that was covered in black.
Eda walked towards it, her heart in her throat, until she reached it. Or better, until she reached herself.
Her body was covered in a black sheet, but she easily recognized her face on the ground, her bloodied, bruised, almost unrecognizable face…But it was still her face….
She stared at herself in shock, until one of the men came and completely covered her head.
“Such a shame, another young life taken away by a drunk fool.” Eda heard it somewhere behind her….
Taken away?
Eda looked at her covered body and a harsh truth came up to her..
Eda was dead. Eda Bolat died in the car accident….She was dead…
She stepped back in shock, realization hitting her, until her gaze fell on the little black and white photo, which was currently being played by the wind Eda couldn’t feel.
Eda saw it, and then, only then, fell on her knees as her vision got blurred by the tears. Tears of lost and grief. Tears of lives that were taken too quickly.
Eda looked at barely visible spot on that photo, the tiny spot that was her baby.
Hers and Serkan’s baby….
She tried to took it, but she couldn’t of course. Her dead hands couldn’t do anything anymore….
And if things couldn’t get worse, by some bad luck, her phone somehow survived the crash and she could heat the buzzing from it, few meters from her.
Cold dread surrounded her as she crawled towards it and Eda let a grief-stricken scream when she saw Serkan’s name on the caller ID.
