Third year of college

Eda exited the airport and took a deep breath.

She missed that Istanbul's air.

She was finally home.

Memories that she tried to hide so hard, knocked on her heart once again.

One year has passed.

One year since she left Istanbul.

Since she last saw him.

Her best friend.

Her Serkan.

But, considering the way they left things, Eda was afraid that Serkan wasn’t her best friend anymore.

Or a friend at all.

She took a deep breath and waved for taxi, hoping to avoid her ex friend…

Avoiding him…

Eda smiled bitterly..

Never in her life has she needed to do that.

What the hell happened to them?

Eda walked slowly down the streets towards her home.

A year ago, these streets would remind her of times she met Serkan walking with Selin hand in hand, hurting Eda every fucking time.

But now, all she could think about is the time when they were kids, innocent and happy, running and playing and causing troubles.

Those were the streets where she broke her arm for the first time and Serkan carried her all the way towards her house, freaking out the whole time.

Those were the streets where she played football with him and other kids, winning against him every time.

Those were the streets where Eda shared her birthday cookies with him, knowing their parents were not in the rich class, but they were still happy with that they got.

Those were the streets where they had they first kiss, an innocent peck on the lips, a promise that no matter what, they would always be friends.

Little did they know….

Eda was greeted by her mom in front of the gate and she quickly ran to her arms.

A child will always love their mothers more, her grandma used to say that to her.

And she was right.

Her hugs were always the warmest, her smiles always the shiniest.

She knew her daughter was struggling with something before she left for her student exchange, and she was pretty much sure about reason she was struggling, but Eda didn’t told her much..

Maybe because there was nothing to talk about…

Not anymore…

After their brief talk about New York, Eda went to her room.

Nothing changed.

On the wall next to her door, there were multiple colorful little lines that were marking both Eda’s and Serkan’s heights through the years.

Ironically, but Eda was always taller than him, and she would always tease him for it.

But things were a little bit different these days…

On the walls were photographs of Eda’s life, and almost all of them were with Serkan.

She could almost smell his perfume in the room.
