Sofia's POV

A Few Years later.

"Emery, no!" Shane booms before getting covered in the peas we had just smashed for her. "God damnit, Em." He mutters, wiping his shirt off with the cloth on her highchair.

"Give up yet?" I ask, looking at him with crossed arms.

"No, she's just...a lot." He sighs, trying to offer Emery the spoon once more. "She's only like this because Grayson spoils her." He points out.

"No, she's like this because she's a year old." I laugh, going over to him and taking the food from his hands. "Here. Let me try."

"Yes. Please, be my guest." He offers up quickly.

Shane and I had recently decided to have the baby talk. Do we want to start having kids? If so, what does that look for our current situation? Would I stay at home? Would we split the time?

Grayson was oh so kind to allow us the day with Emery. Well- more like Natalia let us have her for the day. If it was Grayson's decision- she wouldn't be here right now. Especially not over night.

To say he's adjusting is an understatement.

"Oh my God." Shane groans. "Hello?"

"Grayson again?" I call out to the man pacing the kitchen.

"Yeah. Yeah, she's still good." He speaks into the phone. "Yes, we mashed up the peas for her. No, we aren't letting her out of the area you designated and said was safe.Grayson, she's fine." Shane insists.

I look over and see Shane walking towards me, arm extended to hand my his phone.

"Put him on speaker." I say.

"Hello?" Grayson's voice calls out.

"Hi, Gray." I reply.

"How is she?" He asks.

"She's good. Same as she was two hours ago." I sigh. "You're worrying too much."

"She hasn't been away from us for this long before."

"Gray." I sigh. "It's been like...ten hours."

"Yeah, and that's ten hours that she isn't used to being away from us." He points out. "Are you sure you don't want for us to come and get her for the night? It really wouldn't be a prob-"

"Yes, Grayson. I'm sure." I reply. "You and Nat need a night to yourselves. And really, me and Shane need some practice."

"Yeah, but-"

"She's fine, Grayson." I sigh. "Now shut up and answer my FaceTime call."

I wait as the cell phone rings before Grayson's face fills the screen. I quickly shift the phone to Emery and watch as her face brightens at the sight of Grayson.

"Hi, Emmie Girl." He coos. "Are you being good for Sofie and Shane?"

"Da!" She exclaims, beating her hands on the highchair.

"Daddy loves you, Emmie. I miss you." He tells her. She giggles at him and reaches out to take the phone. While most parents limit their children on devices- Grayson and Natalia fully support the use of technology. Clearly.

"See. She's fine." I point out. "Covered in peas, but she's fine."

"Yeah, she can be messy."

"That's the understatement of the century." I mutter.

"Are you positive that I can't-"

"Say goodbye, Grayson." I say, speaking over him.

"Fine." He grunts. "Bye, Emmie. I love you." He says in the way he uses only for her.
